Job summary

Job Purpose

Our Loyalty and Rewards Business Team is looking a Reconciliations and Risk Analyst to develop automated data extraction and reconciliation processes, proactively identify and mitigate operational risks through data-driven controls, and manage reconciliation-related audit activities. Our ideal candidate should have previous experience in configuration as well as a strong working knowledge in Structured Query Language (SQL) & Customer Relationship Management system (CRM). The successful candidate will possess strong technical, analytical, risk management, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to transform manual reconciliation processes into automated control environments.

Job Responsibilities

Strong Attention to Detail

  • Create and maintain scripts to extract data from various sources.
  • Perform reconciliations between reports, systems, and data sets.
  • Able to compare multiple reports and identify mismatches.
  • Notices patterns and anomalies quickly.
  • Produce exception and management reporting
  • Maintains high levels of accuracy.

Analytical Thinking

  • Understands data relationships rather than simply matching figures.
  • Investigate reconciliation breaks and conduct root-cause analysis.
  • Uses logical reasoning to determine why reports do not align.
  • Thinks proactively about potential failures and control weaknesses.
  • Escalates risks before they become incidents.

Process Improvement Orientation

  • Develop interim and permanent data-driven controls to proactively mitigate operational risk.
  • Can recommend permanent matching keys and system enhancements
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.

Data Competency

  • Experience with reconciliations and exception reporting.
  • Ability to work with large data sets.

Stakeholder Management

  • Manage and coordinate annual internal audit requirements relating to reconciliations and controls.
  • Maintain audit evidence, control documentation, and reconciliation sign-offs.
  • Works with operational teams, IT, and business units to resolve incidents.
  • Can document risks and controls effectively.
  • Test and verify for QA environment
  • Standby on technical deployments
  • Manage Production Issues
  • Logging of incidents
  • Investigation analysis, validation, verification of data and approvals.
  • Conduct Problem solving and detailed root cause analysis
  • Seek opportunities to improve business processes and systems by identifying and recommending effective ways to operate and adding value to Nedbank.
  • Experience in Agile environments
  • Deliver work products according to the agreed timelines
  • Communicate new features to stakeholders through forums
  • Participate in research that will enable recommendations related to system software.
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Preferred Qualification
  • Any of the following qualifications: BCom Information Systems, BSc Computer Science, BSc Data Science/Analytics, BCom Business Analytics, BCom Accounting / Finance or Any related qualification
Minimum Experience Level
  • 3 – 5 Years’ SQL Script writing experience
  • 1 – 3 Years AWS experience will be an advantage
  • System Analysis background would be an advantage
  • Ability to reconcile large data sets accurately
