Assistant Manager – BI & Data Analysis

About the Role

Lead the design, development, and governance of enterprise BI solutions that power decision-making across functions. You’ll own semantic models, data pipelines, and Power BI ecosystems end-to-end—partnering with business stakeholders, mentoring developers, and driving automation, performance, and trust in data. The ideal candidate blends hands-on technical depth with strong communication, a growth mindset, and readiness to take on new challenges.

Responsibilities

• Minimum: 9+ years in BI, data analytics, or data engineering roles with significant hands-on delivery.

Qualifications

• Power BI expertise
• Data modeling (star/snowflake), DAX, measures, calculation groups, hierarchies, relationships.
• Performance tuning (VertiPaq optimization, aggregations, composite models, DirectQuery, incremental refresh).
• Dataset and report development, deployment pipelines, workspace/admin tasks, gateways, monitoring.
• Security: Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS).
• SQL and database skills
• Advanced TSQL; writing and optimizing complex queries, views, stored procedures, and indexes.
• Hands-on with SQL Server using SSMS; query tuning and indexing strategies.
• Familiarity with Azure Synapse Analytics (formerly SQL DW) and Azure SQL Database.
• Azure Databricks (SQL/PySpark), Delta Lake, notebooks, Jobs, cluster management, performance optimization.
• Best practices for Lakehouse architecture and Unity Catalog (governance).
• Power Platform (Good to have)
• Power Apps (canvas/model-driven) to capture operational data and extend BI workflows.
• Power Automate for approvals, alerting, and orchestration; integration with Power BI and ADF.
• AI and advanced analytics (Good to have)
• Applying forecasting, anomaly detection, NLP, and segmentation in BI solutions.
• Integrating models from Azure Machine Learning/Cognitive Services; monitoring and retraining workflows.
• Leveraging AI features in Power BI and the Power Platform to accelerate development and insights.
• Collaboration and communication
• Strong stakeholder management, requirements gathering, documentation, and user enablement.
• Ability to work independently and lead/mentor a team of developers.
