Job Overview

High Performance Computing, AI and Labs is a critical element of HPE. We are focused on delivering innovative solutions that accelerate our customers’ digital transformation and enable them to tackle complex, data‑intensive workloads. The DAOS (Distributed Asynchronous Object Storage) Core Software Engineering team is seeking an experienced software development engineer. This role requires hands‑on software engineering experience in C, C++, and Python.

Responsibilities

• Independently diagnose, design, and implement solutions to complex technical challenges.
• Understand features from existing documentation and read C source code.
• Write code with an eye on performance and scalability.
• Maintain documentation of your work.
• Write unit tests along with your product code.
• Work independently and as part of a globally distributed team.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or Equivalent, 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Proficiency in C programming.
• Experience with software debugging.
• Strong Linux skills.
• 3+ years of experience with distributed storage systems/filesystems, such as Lustre or Ceph.
• Team player with good organizational/planning skills and proven past successes in completing large, complex software projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Architectural knowledge of scalable distributed system architectures.
• Knowledge of I/O and network stacks, RPCs.
• Excellent understanding of file system fundamentals, including POSIX conformance.
• Working knowledge of FUSE.
• Familiarity with Python.
• Familiarity with open‑source development tools and techniques.
• Knowledge of agile development methodologies.
