Job Summary
As a Dairy Operations Executive, you will oversee the daily operations of a 50-cow dairy farm, ensuring efficient milk production, herd health management, and compliance with industry standards. You will implement sustainable dairy farming practices, maintain high-quality standards, and work closely with management to enhance productivity and profitability.
This role is integral to Shailja Organics' continued growth, focusing on operational excellence and eco-friendly practices.
Job Location: Bidyanagar, Mahura, Janla, Bhubaneswar
Job Type: Full Time
Working Hours: 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM (cover morning and evening milking times maintaining 8-9 hour schedule)
Remuneration: 20,000 per month, depending on experience.
Accommodation and Food: Accommodation and subsidized meals provided.
Reporting Officer: Head of Farm Operations and Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Herd Management:
- Ensure the health and well-being of 50 cows, including feeding, cleaning, milking, and veterinary care.
- Implement vaccination and disease prevention programs for cattle.
- Develop and follow a feeding schedule to ensure a balanced diet, including green fodder, silage, concentrates, and mineral supplements.
- Monitor feed intake for individual cows, especially lactating and pregnant cows, to meet production and reproductive needs.
- Implement strategies to avoid overfeeding or underfeeding, ensuring optimal health and milk production.
- Provide special care to newborn calves, including colostrum feeding within the first 24 hours.
- Milk Production:
- Monitor and manage milking operations to achieve optimal yield and quality.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the milking parlour and milk storage areas.
- Facility Maintenance:
- Oversee maintenance of barns, milking equipment, and other dairy infrastructure.
- Ensure timely repairs to prevent disruptions in operations.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of milk yield, feed consumption, veterinary treatments, and herd performance.
- Track inventory of feed, medicines, and other supplies.
- Team Supervision:
- Manage and train farm workers for efficient handling of daily operations.
- Allocate tasks and monitor performance to meet production targets.
- Train workers on emergency protocols, such as handling cow injuries, equipment breakdowns, or extreme weather events.
- Address and resolve disputes among team members to maintain a harmonious work environment.
- Compliance and Standards:
- Adhere to organic certification standards for dairy farming.
- Implement sustainable practices like organic feed, waste management, and water conservation.
- Submit timely reports to regulatory bodies on milk production, herd health, and farm sustainability practices.
- General Responsibilities
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for dairy operations.
- Conduct regular herd inspections to identify and resolve health or performance issues.
- Ensure timely procurement of feed, supplements, and veterinary supplies.
- Coordinate transportation of milk to processing units or distribution centers.
- Monitor operational expenses and suggest cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
- Provide regular reports to the management on milk production, herd performance, and challenges.
- Work closely with the horticulture department to plan, cultivate, and harvest green fodder crops on a continuous basis, ensuring a consistent supply for the cows.

Selection Criteria
- Qualification: Any Bachelors degree.
- Experience: 0-2 years of experience in dairy operations. Fresher candidates with relevant academic background and passion for dairy farming may also apply.
