Job description

Summary:

The Cybersecurity Governance Lead is responsible for driving governance, executive reporting, operating cadence, organizational effectiveness across the Cybersecurity organization.

This role serves as the operational backbone of the function by establishing governance processes, centralizing and automating reporting, coordinating leadership forums, and providing visibility into cybersecurity performance, risks, workforce metrics, strategic initiatives, and transformation activities.

A key responsibility of this role is transforming cybersecurity data into actionable executive insights, helping leadership understand operational performance, risk reduction, cybersecurity effectiveness, and business impact through meaningful metrics and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Governance & Leadership Operating Cadence
  • Develop the Cybersecurity governance framework, leadership calendar, and operating cadence.
  • Coordinate leadership meetings, governance forums, operating reviews, and planning cycles.
  • Track key decisions, actions, risks, dependencies, and leadership commitments.
  • Ensure governance forums are supported with timely, accurate, and decision-ready information.
  • Collaborate across Cybersecurity leadership teams to maintain operating rhythm.
2. Cybersecurity Metrics, Reporting & Executive Insights
  • Develop executive dashboards, scorecards, KPIs, and KRIs that provide visibility into cyber risk, operational performance, organizational priorities, and risk reduction outcomes.
  • Develop a centralized reporting framework and single source of truth for management reporting.
  • Translate data into executive-level insights, recommendations, and decision-support information.
  • Partner with cybersecurity leaders to define meaningful metrics that demonstrate business value, effectiveness, and progress against organizational objectives.
3. Reporting Automation & Data-Driven Operations
  • Drive automation and standardization of cybersecurity reporting, governance, and management information processes.
  • Partner with diverse stakeholders to automate reporting pipelines, workflows, and dashboard capabilities.
  • Eliminate manual reporting, spreadsheet-based consolidation, and repetitive presentation preparation.
  • Implement scalable reporting solutions that improve quality, consistency, transparency, and efficiency.
  • Measure and demonstrate reductions in reporting effort through automation and process improvement.
4. Organizational Performance & Execution
  • Provide visibility into workforce planning, transformation initiatives, strategic programs, and organizational priorities.
  • Monitor progress against objectives, milestones, remediation activities, and leadership commitments.
  • Identify execution risks, delivery challenges, and areas requiring management attention.
  • Support leadership decision-making through execution tracking, analysis, and oversight of organizational priorities.
5. Executive Communications & Leadership Readiness
  • Develop executive presentations, briefing materials, leadership communications, and CISO/CIO updates.
  • Prepare executive summaries, talking points, and stakeholder communications.
  • Support communication of cybersecurity priorities, achievements, and organizational progress.
6. Employee Engagement & Organizational Effectiveness
  • Lead employee engagement activities, workforce and organizational communication programs.
  • Coordinate town halls, all-hands meetings, leadership visits, recognition programs, and strategic events.
  • Develop content, presentations, and support materials for organizational communications.
  • Partner with leadership to strengthen culture, collaboration, transparency, and employee experience.
7. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Act as a central coordination point across all areas of Cybersecurity and local stakeholders.
  • Facilitate alignment on governance requirements, reporting standards, organizational priorities, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Coordinate audit, regulatory, and management review activities, including tracking evidence requests, findings, and remediation actions.
  • Drive accountability for governance deliverables and cross-functional commitments.
  • Influence outcomes and facilitate execution across multiple teams without direct authority.
Required Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of experience in Cybersecurity Governance, Information Security, Business Operations, Technology Governance, Program Management, PMO, or related disciplines.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity, technology, CIO, or enterprise leadership teams.
  • Proven experience developing executive dashboards, scorecards, KPIs/KRIs, governance reporting, and leadership presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret cybersecurity reports, identify trends, measure outcomes, and communicate business impact through metrics and analytics.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity reporting, governance processes, performance management, and organizational operations.
  • Experience automating reporting, governance processes, and management information workflows using data visualization and analytics tools.
  • Advanced Power BI, Excel, and PowerPoint skills, with strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation capabilities.
  • Ability to influence outcomes, drive accountability, and coordinate activities across multiple teams without direct authority.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience within large enterprises or highly regulated environments, preferably financial services.
  • Program, governance, or operational excellence certifications such as PMP, PMI-ACP, PRINCE2, SAFe, Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent.
  • Data analytics, business intelligence, governance, risk, compliance, or business analysis certifications are advantageous.
