Job summary

Atos SE in Navi Mumbai is hiring a Chief Technology Officer to own the technical vision and engineering for AIDLC, a next‑gen AI‑driven platform across ideation, design, code generation, testing, deployment and maintenance.

You will lead a distributed engineering and R&D team, set architecture decisions, prototype where needed, and partner with business leaders to translate AI advances into a durable product.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in software engineering with a proven track record in senior technical leadership (Head of Engineering, Principal Architect or CTO).
• Deep, current hands‑on expertise in AI/ML and modern GenAI systems (LLMs, agentic architectures, RAG, evaluation).
• Proven ability to architect scalable, secure, cloud‑native, multi‑tenant SaaS platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) with data platforms and APIs.
• A genuine builder who can prototype and review critical code while leading through others.
• Experience building and leading distributed engineering teams and hiring top talent.
• Strong product sense with the ability to translate market needs into technical strategy for enterprise customers.
• Excellent communication, able to bridge deep technical detail and executive framing.

Role Overview:

We are building AIDLC — a next-generation platform that embeds AI across the entire application development lifecycle, from ideation and design through code generation, testing, deployment and ongoing maintenance. The platform combines AI-native application development with autonomous agents and workflow automation to help enterprise customers in Europe, the US and Asia Pacific build and run digital applications faster, cheaper and at higher quality.

As Chief Technology Officer, you will own the technical vision, architecture and engineering execution for this platform. This is a hands‑on leadership role for a builder: you will set the technical direction, make the hard architectural calls, prototype where it matters, and grow and lead a world-class engineering and R&D team. You will be the technical counterpart to the business, translating a fast-moving AI landscape into a durable, differentiated product.

Responsibilities:

Technical vision & strategy — Set and continuously evolve the technical vision, architecture and multi-year technology roadmap for the AIDLC platform, aligned to the business strategy and target markets.

Platform architecture — Design a scalable, secure, multi-tenant platform architecture. Make and document the key build/buy/partner and technology-selection decisions (models, orchestration, data, infrastructure).

R&D & innovation — Stay ahead of where AI is heading — foundation models, agentic systems, RAG, fine‑tuning, evaluation — and turn the most promising advances into concrete, differentiated product capabilities.

Engineering execution — Own delivery of Platform: engineering velocity, quality, reliability, security and cost. Build the practices (CI/CD, testing, observability, model evaluation) that let the team ship continuously and safely.

Team leadership — Recruit, mentor and lead a high-performing, distributed engineering and R&D organization. Set the technical culture and bar; grow engineers into leaders.

Business & sales enablement — Partner with the Head of Digital Applications, product, sales and pre-sales. Support key customer conversations, shape the technical narrative, and enable the field to sell the platform.

Security, compliance & trust — Own the security, privacy, data-governance and responsible‑AI posture of the platform, meeting enterprise and regional (EU/US/APAC) compliance expectations.

Required Skills:

• 15+ years in software engineering with a strong record of building and operating complex, production‑grade platforms or products at scale — including several years in senior technical leadership (Head of Engineering, Principal Architect or CTO).
• Deep, current, hands-on expertise in AI/ML and modern GenAI systems — LLMs, agentic architectures, retrieval‑augmented generation, orchestration frameworks, prompt and context engineering, and model evaluation.
• Proven ability to architect scalable, secure, cloud‑native, multi‑tenant SaaS platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP), including data platforms, APIs and distributed systems.
• A genuine builder — still close enough to the technology to architect, review critical code and prototype, while leading through others.
• Experience building and leading engineering teams, ideally distributed across geographies, with a track record of hiring and developing top talent.
• Strong product sense and the ability to translate market and customer needs into technical strategy; comfortable engaging enterprise customers and supporting sales.
• Excellent communication — able to move fluently between deep technical detail and executive/business framing.

Nice to have:

• Experience in developer tooling, low-code/no-code, or platforms that automate parts of the software development lifecycle.
• Background in IT services / enterprise software serving European and US customers; familiarity with EU data‑residency and AI‑regulation (e.g. EU AI Act) considerations.
• Experience taking a new product from zero to one and scaling it, including early commercialization.
• Open‑source contributions, patents, publications or a visible presence in the AI/engineering community.
