Job summary

GMR Group is seeking a frontline operations leader to command Crash Fire Tenders (CFTs) at IGI Airport. The role ensures rapid firefighting, rescue, and evacuation in coordination with Ops Commander, AOCC, and ATC.

Responsibilities include overseeing firefighting installations, drills, and emergency planning to maintain high readiness. The ideal candidate has 7–8 years in aviation firefighting, a science degree, HTV license, and strong computer and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Graduate with science subjects; HTV driving license; good computer skills; strong communication.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Lead Firefighter in aviation firefighting.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple agencies and manage emergency response drills.

Responsibilities

  • Function as CFT In-Charge and lead emergency response operations.
  • Oversee firefighting installations and conduct regular drills.
  • Coordinate with AOCC, ATC, CISF and other agencies during emergencies.
  • Train and develop crew, monitor safety systems and audits.
  • Maintain records of training, incidents and non-compliance metrics.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Emergency Response & CFT Operations
  • Function as the Crash Fire Tender (CFT) In-Charge and ensure effective maneuvering and operation during emergencies.
  • Lead fire team responses at terminal buildings with minimal use of firefighting media and minimal disruption to occupants.
  • Assist passengers/occupants to safety during emergencies.
  • Act as Fire Watch Tower In-Charge; remain vigilant during aircraft movements and coordinate with OC/DO, AOCC & ATC.
  • No. of incidents/ successful rescue
Systems & Infrastructure Oversight
  • Ensure health and functionality of communication and alerting systems in FWT.
  • Oversee upkeep of firefighting installations for structural emergencies.
  • Supervise fire safety systems at Fire Control Center (FCC), Fire Control Room (FCR), and terminals.
  • Coordinate with P&E and IT for timely resolution of defects in FDP/IT systems at terminals.
  • Plan v/s actual No. of non-compliance reported during audits (internal / external).
  • No. of unserviceability logged
Training & Preparedness
  • Conduct fire warden training and evacuation drills.
  • Identify, train, and develop potential CFT & TTL drivers.
  • Maintain training records and assist the Manager – Training in organizing programs and rating tests.
  • Support Operations Commander in conducting full-scale, modular, tabletop exercises, and evacuation drills.

Compliance & Fire Prevention
  • Perform duties of Crew Commander – Fire Prevention as per departmental manual.
  • Participate in emergency planning and assist in operations related to disabled aircraft recovery kits.

EXTERNAL INTERACTIONS
  • CISF: For opening of gates during emergencies on priority, coordination during emergencies, integration test of terminal building & joint crash gates inspection.
  • Delhi Fire Service: For coordination and assistance during Airport emergencies
  • Medical services/CATS: For quick response during emergencies and drills.
  • ATC: For quick response/timely assistance during emergency and otherwise
  • Airlines & GHA: Liaison for Fire warden training & coordination.
  • DDMA: Coordination for emergency response.
  • Delhi Police: Coordination in the event of emergencies/exercise.
INTERNAL INTERACTIONS
  • AOCC: For communicating all Airport related emergencies.
  • Airside Operations: Coordination during Airport emergencies/special services.
  • Terminal Operations: Coordination during Emergencies in Terminals.
  • Landside Management: Traffic management during emergencies in city side.
  • P&E: All P&E related issues & rectification.

Education Qualifications
  • Graduate preferably with science subjects.

  • Should possess good driving skill in both CFT & other specialized vehicles.
