We are seeking a professional with expertise in credit strategy, risk management, credit pricing and portfolio optimization. The role will own credit decisioning frameworks, underwriting policies and risk-adjusted pricing strategies to improve portfolio performance while supporting responsible growth. Position Purpose We are seeking a high-calibre, strategically minded Manager of Credit Strategy, Portfolio Optimization and Risk-Adjusted Pricing to own the end-to-end framework, architecture and governance of the automated credit decisioning and pricing ecosystem. The role will act as the primary business owner and subject matter expert, bridging product, engineering, sales and institutional capital functions with portfolio performance objectives. The incumbent will design and optimize borrower approval waterfalls, capacity calculations, dynamic debt-to-income thresholds, credit limits, optimal offers and industry-specific macroeconomic down sell strategies. This is a first-line credit strategy and policy role, focused on converting model outputs into actionable decision rules, portfolio interventions and commercial strategies. The successful candidate will measure and improve business outcomes through loss-rate reduction, risk-adjusted returns, origination growth, funnel conversion, approval rates, utilization, payback performance and overall portfolio health.
Develop and optimize credit policies, underwriting rules and automated decision strategies across lending products and customer segments. Use portfolio analytics, statistical models and economic indicators to refine eligibility, approval, exposure and credit-limit rules. Own capacity calculations, optimal offer determination, approval waterfalls and risk-based down-sell logic. Assess and implement rule changes through testing, back-testing and impact analysis. Develop and enhance PD, LGD, EAD and ECL frameworks and ensure effective use of model outputs in credit decisions. Identify portfolio vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions, concentration limits and exposure strategies.
Develop risk-adjusted pricing strategies considering portfolio performance, funding costs, capital constraints and expected returns. Analyse payback and repayment trends to understand their impact on profitability, customer behaviour and risk. Optimize pricing, credit limits and offer to balance conversion, revenue, losses and risk-adjusted returns. Partner with Product, Engineering and Business teams to implement pricing and decisioning solutions.
Analyse loss rates, returns, originations, funnel performance, approval rates, utilization and vintage trends. Evaluate the impact of policy, capacity, pricing and offer changes on key portfolio KPIs. Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis to support portfolio strategy. Lead cross-functional initiatives with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, Underwriting and Operations teams. Present strategy recommendations and expected business impact to senior leadership. Establish measurement frameworks and success criteria for strategy changes.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Actuarial Science or a related field. Strong analytical, quantitative and commercial decision-making capability. Preferred Experience Experience managing lending portfolios such as credit cards, consumer loans, commercial loans, SMB lending or digital lending. Hands-on experience designing credit policies, underwriting strategies and automated decision rules. Ability to translate model outputs into practical business actions. Experience with decision engines, experimentation, strategy monitoring and portfolio optimization. SMB lending experience is advantageous.
