Job summary

Wipfli India seeks a seasoned banking risk advisory professional to lead multi-workstream client engagements end-to-end from Bengaluru. You will set approach, manage risk, and coordinate outputs across teams while mentoring junior talent to uplift execution quality.

Responsibilities include client relationship development, scoping and planning, and ensuring regulatory compliant loan reviews for US‑based financial institutions. Strong leadership and cross‑functional collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with a banking focus.
  • 15–20 years of banking experience with lending and credit analysis.
  • Knowledge of US banking rules and regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Experience in commercial lending, real estate, and related collateral.
  • Experience coordinating multi-country teams, US-India exposure desired.

Job description

Lead multi-workstream client engagements end-to-end, setting approach and managing risk

and escalations, integrating outputs across teams, managing expectations and mentoring junior

talent to uplift execution quality

  • Meet quantitative expectations of charge time and utilization (1,495 hours for a total of 65% of time worked)
  • Develop client relationships and serve as primary contact for assigned client engagements including for scoping, planning and timelines. Maintain regular communication with the onshore team, client and relationship executive for streamlined client experience
  • Optimize staffing and capacity and remove blockers. Effectively plan, allocate tasks and manage work teams on engagements to meet client deliverable timeframes with delivery of high-quality work product
  • Review a sample of commercial loans of financial institutions to ensure that acceptable credit standards are maintained and that loans conform to established company policy and any applicable regulatory requirements
  • Analysis of the credit risks within individual commercial loans and commercial mortgages and opine on the appropriateness of risk grades for the loans reviewed
  • Review documentation relating to origination and renewals, collateral, insurance, flood certification(s) etc. Document compliance with loan policies, lending procedures and applicable regulations with the application
  • Document observations, deviations that need to be discussed with the client
  • Conduct activities consistent with established banking policies, procedures and systems, Bank Secrecy Act and all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations in the United States of America
  • Manage performance, staffing, and development plans; build a diverse, high-trust team culture. Provide guidance, coaching and actionable feedback to seniors/assistant managers
  • Monitor budget vs. actuals for the workstream; recommend corrective actions early
  • Effectively lead calls with the onshore (US) team to discuss team progress, quality and productivity
  • Manage the team in providing other risk advisory services to financial services and other industry clients as required
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (M. Com/B. Com/MBA). Major in Banking would be a plus
  • 15-20 years of experience in the banking industry with a focus in lending, credit analysis and loan review
  • Knowledge and experience in US banking industry with good knowledge of applicable rules and regulations is strongly preferred
  • Good knowledge and understanding of business banking and commercial loan products and lending credit policies/guidelines
  • Good knowledge of commercial lending, agricultural lending, real estate development, Coand construction lending, and the required collateral documents for each type
  • Experience in regulatory compliance for US based financial institutions is preferred
  • Experience managing multiple projects from start to end, including involvement in scoping and ownership of planning, execution, reporting and delivery
  • Strong experience in performance management and people development, stakeholder management, escalation management, and ability to communicate effectively with other leaders, both internally and externally
  • Prior experience of working with overseas teams is essential
