Job summary

P.D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC is seeking an MSW Counsellor to support the Child Health & Adolescent Health component of a large-scale Health Camps Outreach Program.

You will provide counselling, psychosocial support, health education, and referrals during community camps and field visits. Eligibility includes an MSW with relevant specialization and experience in paediatric/adolescent health settings, schools, NGOs, or hospitals.

Qualifications

  • MSW with specialization in Medical & Psychiatric Social Work, Counselling, Child Development, or Community Development.
  • Experience in child health, adolescent health, counselling, paediatric settings, schools, community health programs, NGOs, hospitals, or health camps.
  • Candidates with experience working with children, adolescents, parents, and families will be preferred.
  • Strong communication, counselling, interpersonal, and community engagement skills.
  • Comfortable working in a field-based, multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide age-appropriate counselling and psychosocial support to children and adolescents during health camps and community outreach activities.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and identify those needing further counselling or referral.
  • Counsel adolescents on emotional well-being, behavioural concerns, stress, peer relationships, self-esteem, and family concerns.
  • Provide counselling and guidance to parents/caregivers regarding children's and adolescents' needs.
  • Conduct health awareness and adolescent-focused education sessions on mental well-being, nutrition, hygiene, and related health concerns.
  • Identify signs of distress and facilitate referrals to Doctors, Psychologists, or other professionals.
  • Support follow-up of referred children and adolescents.
  • Maintain confidential counselling records, case documentation, referrals, and follow-up reports.
  • Coordinate with Paediatricians/Doctors, Nurses, Dietitians, Lab Technicians, and other healthcare team members.
  • Participate in community outreach activities, school programs, and adolescent health initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and safety standards.

Job description

P.D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC is implementing a large-scale Health Camps Outreach Program through 4 Mobile Health Units and 4 Field Teams, covering 18 States & Union Territories across India.

We are currently looking for an MSW Counsellor to support the Child Health & Adolescent Health component of this initiative. The role will involve providing counselling, psychosocial support, health education, and appropriate referrals to children, adolescents, and their parents/caregivers during community health camps and field visits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide age-appropriate counselling and psychosocial support to children and adolescents during health camps and community outreach activities.
  • Conduct preliminary psychosocial assessments and identify children/adolescents requiring further counselling, intervention, or specialist referral.
  • Counsel adolescents on issues related to emotional well-being, behavioural concerns, stress, peer relationships, self-esteem, family concerns, and other psychosocial issues.
  • Provide counselling and guidance to parents/caregivers regarding children's and adolescents' emotional, behavioural, developmental, and social needs.
  • Conduct health awareness and adolescent-focused education sessions covering mental well-being, healthy lifestyle, personal hygiene, nutrition, substance-use awareness, and other relevant health concerns.
  • Identify signs of emotional distress, behavioural difficulties, social vulnerabilities, or other concerns and facilitate appropriate referral to Doctors, Specialists, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, or other support services.
  • Support follow-up of children and adolescents referred for further evaluation or treatment.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential counselling records, case documentation, referrals, and follow-up reports.
  • Coordinate closely with Paediatricians/Doctors, Nurses, Dietitians, Lab Technicians, and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Participate in community outreach activities, school/community-based awareness programs, health camps, and adolescent health initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional, ethical, child-safeguarding, infection-control, and safety standards.

Eligibility:

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) – preferably with specialization in Medical & Psychiatric Social Work, Counselling, Child Development, or Community Development.
  • Experience in child health, adolescent health, counselling, paediatric settings, schools, community health programs, NGOs, hospitals, or health camps will be preferred.
  • Candidates with experience working with children, adolescents, parents, and families will be preferred.
  • Strong communication, counselling, interpersonal, and community engagement skills.
  • Candidates should be comfortable working in a field-based, multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

Travel Requirement – Important:

The initial posting is likely to be Lucknow, with extensive travel across Uttar Pradesh, followed by travel across different parts of India as the project progresses.

You will be travelling as part of a multidisciplinary team comprising Doctors, Nurses, Counsellors, Dietitians, Lab Technicians, and other healthcare professionals, working with children, adolescents, families, and communities.
