Baker Hughes is seeking a highly experienced Control Valve Application Engineering Expert in India to serve as the premier technical authority for valve sizing, selection, and process optimization. You will mentor teams, support EPC engagements, and drive engineering excellence across global projects and customer opportunities.
The role requires 12+ years of domain expertise, strong knowledge of standards (IEC 60534, ISA, ASME B16.34, API, PED, SIL, NACE), and a deep understanding of valve
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Instrumentation Engineering or related field.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Minimum 12+ years of experience in Control Valve Application Engineering, Product Engineering, Process Engineering, or Valve Technology.
- Experience with severe service and critical control applications.
Responsibilities
- Review and approve critical control valve sizing and selection calculations.
- Troubleshoot challenging customer applications and provide mitigation recommendations.
- Validate compliance with IEC 60534, ISA standards, ASME B16.34, API requirements, PED, SIL, NACE, and customer specifications.
- Support digital tools, sizing software, configuration platforms, and automation initiatives.
- Act as technical advisor for strategic projects, EPC engagements, and major customer opportunities.
- Provide technical expertise and develop technical solutions for sizing and selection software in pre-ITO processes.

This role provides global technical leadership, supports strategic customer opportunities, drives application excellence, and mentors engineering teams while ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
Withover12+yearsofexperience,theindividualisrecognizedasa subjectmatterexpertincontrolvalvetechnologies,severeserviceapplications,fluiddynamics,processcontrol,andvalvelifecyclemanagement.The role collaborates closely with Sales,Product Management,Engineering,Manufacturing,EPCs,End Users,and Field Services organizations to deliveroptimalvalvesolutionsthatimprovecustomer performance,reliability,and operational efficiency.
- Review and approve critical control valve sizing and selection calculations.
- Troubleshoot challenging customer applications and provide mitigation recommendations.
- Validate compliance with IEC 60534, ISA standards, ASME B16.34, API requirements, PED, SIL, NACE, and customer specifications.
- Support digital tools, sizing software, configuration platforms, and automation initiatives.
- Act as technical advisor for strategic projects, EPC engagements, and major customer opportunities.
- Provides technical expertise and develops technical solutions (configuration, performance estimation, economics, etc.) as part of the pre-ITO process while interfacing with the commercial team and implemen t in sizing and selection software’s.
- Possesses a deep understanding of relevant markets and customer economic value that aid winning bid strategies. To include 'ITO': Technical analysis of client needs, D efinition and optimization of the products, scope (description), schedule, industrial scheme, cost, considering contract and internal policies and procedures.
- Develop and establish process for quick turnaround time on quote submission with required details such as lead time, GA D, Pricing availability through process automation.
- Maintaining awareness of competitive control valve technology and application engineering philosophies.
- Provide technical and functional support to Commercial Teams by resolving ValvStream application queries and driving workflow issue resolution.
- Develop and deliver training programs, user guides, and enablement sessions for Commercial Teams on new ValvStream features and enhancements.
- Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT), deployment validation, and post-release support activities to ensure seamless introduction of new capabilities.
- Drive excellence in business Sizirng and selection software platforms to ensure their accuracy and efficiencies.
- Collaborate with Product Management and R&D teams to identify emerging application requirements.
- Drive innovation in control valve technology, severe service solutions, smart instrumentation, and sustainability initiatives.
- Support new product development and product enhancement programs.
- Lead lessons-learned and field feedback integration into product improvements.
- Establish application engineering processes, documentation standards, and technical review practices.
- Drive technical risk assessment and validation activities.
- Support engineering change management and lifecycle management processes.
- Ensure alignment with global engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
- Coach and mentor application engineers, product engineers, sales team & channel partners.
- Conduct global technical training programs.
- Develop competency frameworks and technical certification programs.
- Build organizational expertise in flow control technologies and process optimization.
- Developing team culture with speed, customer focus, proactive thinking & technical expertise among in broader regional / cross functional team.
- Serve as the global technical authority for control valve applications across process industries including Oil & Gas, LNG, Power, Petrochemicals, Chemicals, Hydrogen, and Industrial Processes. Lead complex application reviews involving severe service conditions such as high-pressure drops, flashing, cavitation, erosion, noise, and multiphase flow.
- Provide technical guidance on valve sizing, actuator sizing, trim selection, materials selection, and control strategies.
- Develop and maintain application engineering standards, best practices, and design guidelines.
To be successful in this role you willhave:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related field.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Minimum 12+ years of experience in Control Valve Application Engineering, Product Engineering, Process Engineering, or Valve Technology.
- Demonstrated expertise in severe service and critical control applications.
- Strong understanding of process control systems and plant operations.
- Control valve sizing per IEC 60534 / ISA standards.
- Cavitation, flashing, erosion, and noise prediction.
