Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to design, implement, and optimize protection relay systems for EHV/HV substations. You will coordinate with GSI and GE Vernova, provide technical leadership, and deliver clear data to customers.

The role requires 5+ years in substation protection, EPC experience, and willingness to travel internationally. Strong communication and project management skills are essential to ensure reliable power systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in substation protection relay systems in EHV/Substations or power transmission.
• Experience in EPC environments with multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with secondary engineering up to 765kV/400kV/220kV and HVDC substations (AIS/GIS/solar/wind).
• Protection relay/testing experience and SAS commissioning preferred (min 1 year).
• Strong written and spoken communication skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing protection relay systems for EHV/HV substations
• Ensure the reliability and efficiency of power systems
• Execute secondary engineering activities for EHV/HV Electrical Substations
• Work with GSI Global Engineering Center to coordinate with GSI Regions / Business Lines
• Provide technical leadership and interface with GSI Regions / GE Vernova Business Lines
• Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
• Document and communicate results of technical data generated
• Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives
• Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology providing competitive advantage
• Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects
• Perform studies on Electrical Power systems and load flow and short circuit studies
• Design and prepare scheme drawings using E-CAD Tool for up to 400/765kV Substations
• Design/review the Substation automation system based on IEC61850 standards
• Review BOQ and Architecture drawings of PLCC/FOTE engineering
• Perform/review the protection relay application / setting calculations and coordination

Requirements

• Bachelor’s (or) master’s degree in electrical engineering
• 5+ years of experience in substation protection relay systems within EHV Electrical Substations, Oil & Gas or Power Transmission industries
• Experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) environments with multidisciplinary teams
• Experience of Secondary(CRP/SAS, Aux Systems, Telecom, Interface) engineering up to 765kV/400kV/220KV and HVDC Substations (AIS/GIS/SOLAR/WIND)
• Experience/Knowledge on Relay Testing, Equipment Testing, Control / Protection scheme testing & SAS Commissioning experience (min 1 year) shall be given additional weightage
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal , responsive and supervision skills
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate and resolve problems
• Demonstrated ability to manage programs / projects
• Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
• Established project management skills
• Fluent in English; additional language (any foreign Language) is a plus
