Job Description Summary
As an Engineer – Control & Protection at GE Vernova Grid Solutions, you will design, implement, and optimize protection relay systems for EHV/HV substations, focusing on safety, quality, cost, and time delivery. Your expertise will support the reliability and efficiency of power systems across our global operations.
This role involves secondary engineering activities in Control & Protection, Substation Automation Systems, Interface Engineering, and Telecom Requirements & LV Auxiliary Systems for EHV/HV Substations (AIS / GIS / HVDC / FACTS / STATCOM / Onshore / Offshore / Renewable, etc.). The candidate will collaborate with workgroups to meet objectives and will operate within defined parameters to address moderately complex issues, coordinating with the GSI Global Engineering Center (GSI GEC) and regions as per project requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment; solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and influence short- and long-term business goals.
- Provide technical leadership and interface with GSI Regions/GE Vernova Business Lines to estimate optimized manhour costs for engineering activities and other project/tender requirements.
- Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers.
- Document and communicate results of technical data generated.
- Participate on teams addressing specific organizational initiatives and promote open dialogue.
- Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology and maintain a competitive advantage.
- Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects in line with engineering policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Electrical Power systems, load flow, and short-circuit studies.
- Experience in Control and Protection engineering up to 765 kV/400 kV/220 kV and HVDC Substations (AIS/GIS/SOLAR/WIND); ability to design and prepare scheme drawings using an E-CAD tool (e.g., EB software, E-Plan, AutoCAD Electrical) with 2–3 years of experience.
- Experience with Substation automation systems based on IEC 61850-8-1 (Station Bus) and IEC 61850-9-2 (Process Bus); database preparation in automation/RTU software.
- Experience in IO mapping with respect to scheme drawings and troubleshooting database issues in SAS/RTU systems.
- Knowledge of PLCC/FOTE engineering and interface between CRP & SAS with Telecom Equipment.
- Knowledge of major AIS & GIS components (Circuit breakers, Isolators, CSD, PDM & Interlocks schemes).
- Knowledge of Transformers/Reactors and related Condition Monitoring Devices.
- Knowledge of Process Bus oriented digital CT/VTs and associated Circuit Breakers & Isolators.
- Experience in CT/VT sizing calculations and knowledge of protection relay applications and setting calculations.
- Experience in control cable engineering in substations and LV/LT auxiliary systems.
- Knowledge of Relay Testing, Equipment Testing, Control/Protection scheme testing, and SAS Commissioning (minimum 1 year) may be given additional weight.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering.
- 5–8 years of experience in substation protection relay systems within EHV electrical substations, Oil & Gas, or Power Transmission industries.
- Experience in EPC environments with multidisciplinary teams.
