Job summary

Environmental Resources Management (ERM) in India seeks a Technical Due Diligence Consultant to support global M&A advisory across infrastructure projects. Based in Bengaluru, you will collaborate with the M&A team to deliver technical diligence for buy-side and sell-side deals.

You will review asset integrity, CAPEX/OPEX assumptions, and risk mitigations, lead client interactions, and coordinate multi-discipline teams to produce high-quality deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Engineering background with an emphasis on civil, chemical, or electrical.
  • Minimum 7 years of technical consulting/engineering in energy/infrastructure.
  • Ability to identify risks from technical docs, site visits, and discussions.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills, self-motivation and teamwork.
  • Able to promote and deliver high-quality work; strong report writing & presentation.
  • Experience in client-facing roles and communicating with stakeholders.
  • Experience reviewing contracts, financial models, design/specs, and budgets.
  • Experience assessing asset integrity and performance (HSE, maintenance, availability).
  • Ability to manage or assist with complex project delivery across multiple workstreams.

Why this role matters

As a Technical Due Diligence Consultant, you will support ERM s global consulting delivery by collaborating across the M&A team to offer Transaction Advisory Services to financial institutions, corporate clients and infrastructure operators. You will work within Mergers and Acquisition service line under Technical Due Diligence team, partnering with NA / EMEA regional stakeholders to provide technical advisory services for various infrastructure projects. This role is to work with infrastructure funds, private equity firms, investments banks and energy companies to deliver technical due diligence services on buy side, sell side and project financing deals.

  • Identification of technical risks and mitigations associated with the Buy side and Sell side deals.
  • Review of Business Case / Financial Models to opine on CAPEX and OPEX assumptions.
What will you bring
  • A solid academic background with an engineering bias (Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering).
  • Minimum 7 years of technical consulting, engineering, or operational experience during your career within the energy / infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to identify risks and opportunities within technical documentation, site visits and technical discussions, relating to points such as asset integrity, operational performance, management systems or business plans.
  • Demonstrates excellent organisational skills, self-motivation, self-sufficiency and the ability to work successfully in a fast turnaround team environment.
  • Must be able to promote and execute quality work, and ensure high standards are being achieved by yourself and the team.
  • Exhibit advanced report writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience in a client facing role.
  • Experience reviewing Contracts and Agreements, Financial Models, design and specifications, budgets for industrial projects.
  • Experience assessing asset integrity and performance (HSE, maintenance, availability, etc.).
  • The ability to manage or assist with complex project delivery coordinating multiple workstreams into client deliverables.
Preferred skills & competencies
  • Management of previous external client projects or experience in a client facing role.
  • Hands on working experience of Renewable Energy Due Diligence (Solar / Wind / BESS/ Hydro) and in calculation of Energy Yield Assessment.
  • The ability to manage or assist with complex project delivery coordinating multiple workstreams into client deliverables.
  • Previous experience in technical due diligence;
  • Knowledge of current, reasonable costs associated with Capex (Capital Expense) and Opex (Operational Expense) for engineering assets / projects.
  • Familiar with decarbonization strategies and technologies.
Key responsibilities
  • Deliver proposals, which will include development of our company profile, scopes of work, scheduling and commercial terms;
  • Successfully deliver large, complex and/or multidisciplinary consulting and technical due diligence projects and/or specific deliverables or phases of work on larger, more complex or higher complexity programs.
  • Lead projects that provide our clients with a technical, operational and business plan evaluation of their proposed investment on infrastructure assets;
  • Lead the coordination of typical project deliverables such as Q&A submission, management sessions, client meetings and report delivery;
  • Work effectively across technical communities within ERM and subcontractors who are identified as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to support project delivery and client interaction; and
  • Complete internal development tasks to improve the functionality of the infrastructure service line.
  • Lead, inspire and mentor personnel for overall success of technical teams.
  • Understand the interrelationships between ERM practices and policies and how these are applied within the business model(s).
  • Take direction and achieve objectives with minimal oversight.
