Qualifications

Job Overview

True Care Hospital invites applications for the position of Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist for its new hospital project in Manali, Himachal Pradesh.

The selected consultant will play a key role in establishing and developing the Obstetrics & Gynaecology department while providing comprehensive care across outpatient, inpatient, maternity, surgical and emergency services. We are seeking a clinically competent, compassionate professional with experience in independently managing deliveries, Caesarean sections and obstetric and gynaecological emergencies.

The consultant will be supported by anaesthesia services, paediatric services and an emergency operating theatre.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient consultations, inpatient care and regular ward rounds for obstetric and gynaecological patients.
• Deliver comprehensive antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care.
• Assess and manage routine and high-risk pregnancies, including pregnancy-related medical complications.
• Independently manage labour, conduct vaginal deliveries and perform Caesarean sections.
• Recognise and manage obstetric emergencies, including postpartum haemorrhage, eclampsia and obstructed labour.
• Diagnose and treat gynaecological conditions, including menstrual disorders, abnormal uterine bleeding, fibroids, ovarian cysts, pelvic pain and infections.
• Perform appropriate obstetric and gynaecological surgeries and procedures within clinical expertise and available hospital facilities.
• Provide preoperative assessment, informed consent, postoperative care and follow-up.
• Counsel patients on reproductive health, contraception, family planning, menopause and preventive healthcare.
• Coordinate with anaesthesia, paediatrics, nursing and other clinical teams to ensure safe and timely care.
• Participate in emergency duties and the hospitals on-call roster.
• Support the establishment of the department through clinical protocol development, service planning and staff training.
• Maintain accurate clinical records, operative notes and discharge summaries.
• Participate in clinical audits, case reviews and quality improvement activities.
• Ensure timely referral when patients require care beyond the hospitals available services.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• MBBS with MD/MS/DNB in Obstetrics & Gynaecology from a recognised institution.
• Valid registration with the relevant medical council.
• Demonstrated experience in independently managing vaginal deliveries, Caesarean sections and obstetric and gynaecological emergencies.
• Experience in managing high-risk pregnancies and providing inpatient and outpatient gynaecological care.
• Competence in performing common obstetric and gynaecological surgical procedures.
• Previous experience in a consultant role is preferred.
• Experience in developing a clinical department or working in a newly established hospital would be an advantage.
