Job summary

Samvedna Development Society seeks a Principal Consultant Livestock Value Chain to lead strategic assessments and program design for the UKDPMU Project in Dehradun. The role requires extensive experience in strengthening livestock value chains, coordinating with government agencies and communities, and developing SOPs and capacity-building programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 7 years of supervisory experience in livestock value chains.
  • Experience in livestock production and value chain development.
  • Strong understanding of animal husbandry, dairy, fisheries, goatery and aquaculture value chains.
  • Experience coordinating with government departments, communities and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Map, assess and analyse livestock, fisheries and dairy value chains.
  • Develop SOPs, guidelines and operational frameworks with State Government departments.
  • Monitor project performance in livestock and fisheries sectors and submit progress reports.
  • Facilitate implementation of animal husbandry activities with pastoralist communities.
  • Promote household-level goatery units and develop goatery value chains across the state.
  • Coordinate with Veterinary, Dairy, Fisheries and other government departments for smooth project implementation.
  • Develop training modules and capacity-building programmes for communities engaged in livestock, fisheries and dairy value chains.
  • Facilitate partnerships for animal production technologies through PPP arrangements.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and assessments for aquaculture development and identify vertical gaps.
  • Identify potential aquaculture and fish farming sites and develop a roadmap with stakeholders.
  • Identify and assess opportunities for fisheries value-added products.
  • Develop an Export Management Plan for fisheries products.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry from a recognized institution.
Experience & Skill Sets
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in a supervisory capacity, particularly in strengthening livestock value chains.
  • Proven professional experience in livestock production and livestock/value chain development.
  • Strong understanding of animal husbandry, dairy, fisheries, goatery and aquaculture value chains.
  • Experience in coordinating with government departments, communities and other stakeholders.

  • Promote and establish viable household-level goatery units and develop goatery value chains across the state.
  • Coordinate with Veterinary, Dairy, Fisheries and other relevant government departments for smooth project implementation.
  • Develop training modules and capacity-building programmes for communities engaged in livestock, fisheries and dairy value chains.
