Role Description The Consultant General Surgeon is a full-time, on-site role based in Dehradun at KANISHK Surgical and Super Specialty Hospital. The role involves performing elective and emergency general surgical procedures, including preoperative assessment, operative management, and postoperative care. Responsibilities include conducting outpatient clinics, admitting patients, coordinating multidisciplinary care, and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and NABH standards. The Consultant General Surgeon will participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and morbidity and mortality meetings, and contribute to clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives. The role also includes teaching and mentoring junior doctors and supporting seminars and live surgery workshops organized by the hospital.
Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Medicine, with the ability to manage preoperative and postoperative medical conditions.
• Proficiency in Surgery, including general and GI surgical procedures, with sound knowledge of operative techniques and perioperative care.
• Familiarity with Orthopedic Surgery principles for basic trauma management and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Awareness of Plastic Surgery and Ophthalmology interfaces relevant to comprehensive surgical care and referrals.
• Recognized medical degree (MBBS) and postgraduate qualification in General Surgery (MS/DNB or equivalent), with valid registration with the appropriate medical council.
• Experience working in an acute care or tertiary hospital setting; prior experience in NABH-accredited hospitals is an advantage.
• Excellent clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
