Job summary

The Indian Council of Social Science Research is seeking retired officers from Central/State Government or Autonomous bodies for a consultant position. Candidates must have experience at the level of Section Officer or above and be knowledgeable about government rules.

The contract is for six months with potential for extension based on performance. Applicants should send their applications by 04.07.2026 to the Director at ICSSR, New Delhi.

Eligibility Criteria/Essential Educational Qualification

Essential: Retired officers of Central/State/Govt./Attached and subordinate offices or Autonomous bodies of Government of India OR PSUs who had served as Section Officer/Under Secretary/Director/Joint Secretary/Additional Secretary having experience in Establishment/Administration.

Experience

Adequate administrative experience and a working knowledge of government rules and procedures.

Remuneration

Fixed Monthly amount arrived at by deducting basic pension from the pay drawn at the time of retirement. The maximum consolidated remuneration payable to retired PSU employees engaged as consultant will be calculated as per DoT OM No. 3-10/2014-SEA-I/Fin dated 29th March 2022. However, the monthly remuneration payable to Central Govt./Autonomous Bodies employees will be calculated as per OM 3-25/2020-E.III A dated 9th December 2020 and OM No. 03-25/2020-E.III (A) dated 18.10.2023. The amount of remuneration so fixed shall remain unchanged for the term of the contract. No increment, or additional allowances, like D.A., HRA etc. shall be payable.

General Terms Conditions

• Number of posts is tentative. ICSSR reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of posts and may or may not fill any post(s).
• The prescribed qualifications are the minimum and mere possession and fulfilment of the essential and desirable qualifications for a post does not entitle the candidate to be called for interview.
• Period of contract is initially for a period of six months which may be extended subject to the performance of the candidate and further requirement of ICSSR.
