Pulse Multi-specialty Clinic in Chennai seeks an experienced pathologist to join our laboratory team. The candidate will report cytology and peripheral smears, and serve as authorized NABL signatory while overseeing lab operations in hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, cytology and clinical pathology.
Interfacing with radiology for ultrasound-guided FNAC and ensuring accurate diagnoses across diseases is essential. A track record with NABL accreditation and lab management is preferred.
A pathologist studies body tissues under the microscope and gives the final diagnosis in many diseases, especially those which present as a swelling in any part of the body. This process involves taking a part of the tissue by biopsy (where a large chunk of tissue is taken) or by Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) (where a small amount of tissue is taken by a needle). Many diseases like tuberculosis, blood disorders like leukaemia, swellings seen in the thyroid, salivary gland, breast, and lymph nodes are all diagnosed conclusively with the help of a pathologist. A pathologist also examines blood films (peripheral smear) to diagnose different types of anaemias or leukaemias. In Pulse Multi-specialty Clinic, these types of biopsies and FNAC are done under ultrasound guidance so that accurate localization of the lesion and thereby a correct diagnosis is made possible. In our institution, the radiologist and pathologist work hand-in-hand to give the best possible result to the patient.
