Job summary

Siemens Mobility in India seeks a Brakes Component Engineer to ensure reliability, safety and lifecycle support for brake systems on metros, EMUs, and locomotives. You will collaborate with design, maintenance and supplier teams to maintain system availability and safety compliance.

The role involves coordination across multiple rolling stock platforms, with responsibilities spanning installation, testing, troubleshooting and performance validation on test tracks and customer sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical or pneumatic engineering.
  • 6–10 years in railway domain, brakes control & TCMS/Traction integration.
  • Deep knowledge of brakes functionality and validation.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and electrical systems.
  • EN50126/50128/50129 and EN16185, 14198, 13452 knowledge is a plus.
  • Brakes control software knowledge is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Support brake systems across metros, EMUs, and locomotives.
  • Assist installation, testing, commissioning, and validation.
  • Troubleshoot brake components and perform RCA when needed.
  • Provide engineering support to maintenance teams for queries.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for quality issues and warranty.

Component Engineer – Brakes

As a Brakes Component Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, maintainability, safety and LCC support of brake system which are running in the service (Metros, EMUs, and locomotives). Brakes component engineer bridges engineering design team, maintenance team, and suppliers for achieving system availability without compromising on safety standards and compliances aligning technology roadmaps with business goals

You’ll make a difference by

  • Supporting the brake systems running across multiple rolling stock platforms globally (Metros, EMUs, and locomotives)
  • Support installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and brake system performance validation on test tracks or at customer sites if required
  • Understanding the system and troubleshooting of the brake components
  • Regular fleet performance monitoring to ensure the system availability
  • Provide the engineering support to depot maintenance teams for resolving technical queries
  • Co-ordinate with the brake system suppliers for the supplier quality issues and warranty support
  • Performing the RCA (Root Cause Analysis) on brake system failures and supporting the design team for solutions
  • If required, creating the Engineering change requests for the modifications
  • Implementing corrective and preventing actions in the fleet against failures
  • Validate the design modifications
  • Preparation of technical reports if required
  • CFT collaboration
Desired Skills:
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical or pneumatic engineering
  • 6-10 years of progressive experience in the railway domain, specifically in Brakes control, Brakes-TCMS/Traction integration
  • Deep knowledge of Brakes Functionality and brake system validation
  • Knowledge of Pneumatic and electrical systems
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
  • Knowledge on EN50126/50128/50129 and EN16185, 14198, 13452 is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of brakes control software is an added advantage
