The director establishes relationships with media outlets, develops strategic communication plans and handles the public‑relations issues that arise — internally or externally, calmly or otherwise. You will own message architecture across channels: press, digital, crisis and the spokespersons who carry each. Communications technologies are the easy half; the seat is earned in judgment — what is said, by whom, and when silence is the stronger message. Judgment is the deliverable. The practice operates across political and corporate contexts where tone is strategy, and the director owns that tone at organizational scale. The bench beneath you — writers, spokespersons, coordinators — takes its discipline from the standard you keep, and clients take their confidence from it.
