The candidate should demonstrate strong Cognos 11 and SSRS skills, plus experience with Informer queries, PowerBI, and SQL databases.

Qualifications

• Must have Cognos 11 and SSRS with 5–6 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in Informer queries is required.
• Customer-facing/Client interaction for requirement elicitation is a must.
• Strong communication and presentation skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Create/modify Cognos and SSRS reports as requested by business users.
• Schedule queries to run automatically and email reports to recipients.
• Modify the Cognos framework on an infrequent basis.
• Develop Informer queries to report on data from Naviga Ad.
• Explore and recommend other reporting tools that can replace Cognos.
• Prepares and presents written and oral presentations.
• Keeps management apprised of project status.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Role

The Financial Reporting Specialist will be responsible for obtaining report requirements and preparing and delivering insightful financial Advertising reports for Hearst Newspapers at the Corporate level and the local market level. The position will also need to understand and modify existing reports as requested by the business users. Excellent communication skills are a must for the position because of the need to directly interact with business users to gather requirements and work with the users to validate and ensure the accuracy of the reports.

• Skills using Informer and other reporting tools a plus.
• Understanding of databases (SQL Server, Oracle and UniData) is desired.
• Knowledgeable of best practices for the creation of reports.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology or other related field.
• IBM Cognos Designer Certification a plus.
• 4+ years’ experience developing Cognos framework packages and Cognos queries.
