Job summary

Cognizant in Hyderabad is seeking a Senior/Lead IaC & Automation Engineer to design and implement enterprise-scale infrastructure. You will own automation across cloud and on-prem environments, focusing on Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD tooling in a hybrid setup.

You will work with Temporal workflows, Vault for secrets, OpenShift and VMware, delivering secure, scalable platforms and efficient pipelines with strong governance and reliability.

Qualifications

• 6–12 years of hands-on IaC, DevOps, and automation in enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise in Terraform, Ansible and CI/CD platforms.
• Experience with Vault, hybrid cloud, OCP/OpenShift and VMware.
• Ability to design scalable, secure infrastructure and automated workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and manage enterprise-scale infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible.
• Build and integrate CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and Harness.
• Manage secrets and security, including Vault integration.
• Automate hybrid OpenShift and VMware environments; ensure reliability, performance.

We are looking for a Senior / Lead IaC & Automation Engineer with deep expertise in infrastructure automation, DevOps tooling, and enterprise platform engineering.

This role requires strong hands‑on experience in Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD platforms, secrets management, and cloud/on‑prem automation, along with the ability to develop scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure solutions across hybrid environments.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

• Design, develop, and manage infrastructure using:
  • Terraform (advanced modules, state management)
  • Ansible (configuration and orchestration)
• Build reusable and scalable infrastructure modules
• Automate provisioning across cloud and on‑prem environments
• Maintain infrastructure consistency, versioning, and governance

CI/CD & Automation Platforms

• Design and implement end-to-end automation pipelines using:
  • GitHub Actions
  • Harness (CI/CD platform)
• Integrate infrastructure provisioning within CI/CD workflows
• Enable continuous deployment and environment consistency
• Implement pipeline security and governance

Secrets & Security Management

• Implement and manage HashiCorp Vault for:
  • Secrets management
  • Key rotation and access policies
• Integrate Vault with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks
• Ensure secure handling of credentials across environments

Hybrid Infrastructure Automation

• Automate infrastructure across:
  • OpenShift (OCP) environments
  • VMware platforms (vSphere, virtualization automation)
• Manage container and virtualized workloads in hybrid environments
• Implement infrastructure scaling and resilience strategies

Workflow Orchestration & Distributed Systems

• Utilize Temporal for building reliable and scalable workflows
• Design fault-tolerant automation processes
• Orchestrate long-running and event-driven automation tasks

Network Automation

• Design and implement network automation solutions
• Automate provisioning and configuration of:
  • Load balancers
  • Firewalls
  • Network policies
• Ensure network reliability, security, and performance

Monitoring, Reliability & Optimization

• Build observability into infrastructure automation pipelines
• Monitor system health and performance
• Optimize cost, scalability, and resource utilization

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
