Job summary

The role involves supporting IB PYP learning through play-based activities and contributing to students' academic, social, emotional and overall development.

Job description

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant to join our IB School. The candidate will work closely with the Homeroom Teacher to support classroom learning, student engagement and daily routines.

The role involves assisting with age-appropriate, inquiry-based and play-based learning experiences, preparing classroom resources, supporting individual and small-group activities, and encouraging students' curiosity, creativity, independence and collaboration.

The Teaching Assistant will support effective classroom management and maintain a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment. The candidate will also contribute to student wellbeing, safety and development while working collaboratively with teachers, specialist staff and the wider school community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Homeroom Teacher in planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate IB EYP learning experiences.
  • Assist in implementing inquiry-based and play-based learning activities.
  • Provide individual and small-group support to reinforce learning and development.
  • Prepare, organise and maintain classroom resources and learning materials.
  • Assist students during classroom routines, transitions, outdoor play, lunch and other activities.
  • Encourage students' independence, communication, creativity, curiosity and collaboration.
  • Support positive behaviour and effective classroom management.
  • Observe students and share relevant feedback regarding their learning, behaviour and wellbeing with the Homeroom Teacher.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, nurturing, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Support differentiated learning and students with diverse learning needs.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, health, safety and safeguarding.
  • Collaborate effectively with Homeroom Teachers, specialist teachers, coordinators and support staff.
  • Participate in school events, activities and professional development programmes as required.

  • Experience in an IB or international school will be an advantage.
  • Good proficiency in English communication.
  • Basic knowledge of child development and Early Years teaching practices.
