RapidData is seeking an experienced Cloud & DevOps Lead in Chennai, India, to design and manage scalable cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines. You will work with AWS and/or Azure, Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes, while guiding teams and ensuring secure, compliant deployments.

The role requires 5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud, DevOps practices, automation, and cloud security, with occasional travel to client sites.

We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Cloud & DevOps Lead with 5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, automation, CI/CD, containerization, and cloud security.

The candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and optimizing scalable and highly available cloud infrastructure and DevOps solutions. The role will involve working closely with development, QA, security, architecture, and business teams to establish efficient deployment processes and ensure reliable application delivery.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in AWS and/or Microsoft Azure, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, monitoring, automation, and cloud security. The candidate should be comfortable working with distributed teams and be willing to travel to Dubai whenever required for project/client engagements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure.
• Work extensively with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Manage compute, storage, networking, databases, IAM, load balancing, and other cloud services.
• Implement cloud architecture best practices for scalability, availability, performance, and cost optimization.
• Perform cloud migration, infrastructure modernization, and optimization activities.
• Monitor cloud resource utilization and recommend improvements for performance and cost efficiency.
• Ensure cloud environments follow organizational security and compliance standards.

DevOps & CI/CD

• Design, develop, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for application build, testing, deployment, and release management.
• Automate application and infrastructure deployment processes.
• Work with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or equivalent.
• Implement automated build, deployment, rollback, and release processes.
• Establish DevOps best practices across development and operations teams.
• Identify and eliminate manual processes through automation.
• Support continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment initiatives.

Infrastructure as Code & Automation

• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM/Bicep, or equivalent technologies.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management.
• Develop scripts and automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
• Maintain reusable infrastructure modules and deployment templates.
• Implement configuration management and environment standardization.
• Design, deploy, and manage containerized applications using Docker.
• Manage and support Kubernetes environments, including deployment, scaling, networking, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Work with services such as Amazon EKS, Azure AKS, or equivalent Kubernetes platforms.
• Implement Helm charts and Kubernetes manifests where applicable.
• Troubleshoot application, container, and cluster-level issues.

Monitoring & Reliability

• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions.
• Work with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Elastic Stack, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, or equivalent.
• Monitor application and infrastructure performance and availability.
• Analyze incidents and perform root-cause analysis.
• Establish proactive monitoring and alerting mechanisms.
• Support production deployments and resolve critical infrastructure issues.

Security & Compliance

• Implement cloud security best practices across infrastructure and applications.
• Manage IAM, roles, policies, secrets, certificates, encryption, and access controls.
• Ensure secure configuration of cloud infrastructure and DevOps pipelines.
• Integrate security checks into CI/CD pipelines where applicable.
• Work closely with security teams to address vulnerabilities and compliance requirements.
• Support security audits and remediation activities.

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead and mentor DevOps/Cloud engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Review technical designs, implementation approaches, and infrastructure changes.
• Define and enforce DevOps standards, processes, and best practices.
• Coordinate with development, QA, architecture, security, and infrastructure teams.
• Participate in technical discussions and provide solutions for complex infrastructure challenges.
• Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and support team capability development.
• Take ownership of technical deliverables and ensure projects are completed within agreed timelines.

Production Support

• Provide L2/L3 technical support for cloud and DevOps environments.
• Troubleshoot deployment, infrastructure, networking, performance, and availability issues.
• Participate in incident management and production support activities.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Support disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity initiatives.
• Participate in on-call or after-hours support when required.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
• Good understanding of cloud architecture and cloud-native services.
• Knowledge of networking concepts such as VPC/VNet, subnets, routing, VPN, DNS, load balancers, firewalls, and security groups.

DevOps Tools

• Strong experience with CI/CD tools such as:
• Jenkins
• GitHub Actions
• Strong understanding of Git and version control.

Infrastructure as Code

• Hands-on experience with:
• Terraform
• AWS CloudFormation and/or Azure ARM/Bicep
• Experience creating reusable and maintainable infrastructure modules.

Containers & Orchestration

• Docker
• Experience with EKS/AKS is preferred.

Scripting & Programming

• Good scripting experience in one or more of:
• Python
• Bash/Shell
• PowerShell
• Ability to automate operational and infrastructure tasks.
• Experience with one or more:
• Grafana
• ELK/Elastic Stack
• AWS CloudWatch
• Application Insights
• Strong understanding of logging, monitoring, alerting, and observability.

Networking

• Good understanding of:
• TCP/IP
• DNS
• HTTP/HTTPS

• VPC/VNet architecture

Security Knowledge

• Understanding of cloud security principles.
• Experience with IAM and role-based access control.
• Knowledge of secrets management and encryption.
• Understanding of DevSecOps practices.
• Experience integrating security and vulnerability scanning into CI/CD pipelines is an advantage.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure and DevOps automation.
• Experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring team members.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Certifications

Any of the following certifications would be an advantage:

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect
• HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate
• Other relevant Cloud/DevOps certifications
