Job summary

CDM Smith India Global Resource Center seeks a Project Technical/Task Lead or Primary Design Engineer focused on conveyance (Water/Wastewater Pipelines) design and remote construction support. You will collaborate with teams across the US, ME, AUS, and Germany to deliver robust solutions.

Responsibilities include mentoring junior staff, QA/QC of deliverables, and supporting new business development while advancing CDM Smith’s water conveyance capabilities.

Qualifications

• Masters’ degree in Civil, Water Resource and Environmental, Pipeline Engineering or related discipline.
• 15+ years of relevant experience.
• International travel may be required.

Job Description

As a member of our India Global Resource Center, you would contribute to CDM Smith's vision by serving as a Project Technical/Task Lead or Primary Design Engineer on many projects focused on conveyance (Water/Wastewater Pipelines) design and remote construction support. This role will include coordination with team members of various engineering disciplines in our local offices and global offices across the United States, ME, AUS, and Germany.

With high-level goals provided, create designs of basic to high complexity to meet client project requirements.

Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Mentors more junior staff and develops them for future growth within the discipline and firm. May supervise the work of junior engineers on project work. Completing Quality Assurance/Quality Control of key deliverables and review of more junior staff work products.

Participate or assist in new business development by contributing to technical approach and level of effort development.

Additionally, it is desired to increase CDM Smith’s technical strength in the conveyance of water. The ideal candidate will be highly experienced in the evaluation, planning, rehabilitation and design water conveyance systems, such as sanitary sewers, storm sewers,transmission/distribution systems, to help us develop and deliver the best technical solutions for our clients.

Other desired work competencies for this position include the following:

1. Lead or participate in water/sewer/stormwater conveyance projects.

2. Good knowledge and active experience using WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS and ICM InfoWater/SE.

3. Develop and conduct engineering analysis for planning, studies and detailed pipeline designs.

4. Good knowledge on pipeline crossing techniques (HDD/Jack and Bore/Micro tunneling)

5. Provide project management assistance and technical leadership.

6. Able to present sound technical solutions and work products to peers, clients and other stakeholders.

7. Prepare and develop engineering technical reports, studies and pipeline work specifications, and evaluate alternatives.

8. Prepare plan and profile sheets utilizing Civil 3D.

9. Provide engineering services during construction support.

Assist with business development pursuits when required.

Contribute to CDM Smith’s Technical Knowledge Management (TKM) by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or unique case designs, studies, etc.

Familiarity and experience with asset management programs

Skills & Abilities

Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices. Expert Knowledge of engineer principles of design. Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.). Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.

15+ years of relevant experience.

International travel may be required.

The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

Additional Pay Range Information

CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate’s salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
