Job summary

Hitachi Energy in India is seeking a Senior Civil Design Lead to guide civil engineering design activities for energy infrastructure projects. You will lead a team, ensure technical excellence, and deliver designs within scope and budget.

The role requires a Bachelor's in civil engineering, 10+ years of experience (including 3 years in lead roles), and proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, and structural analysis tools. A PE license or equivalent is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive civil engineering design experience.
• At least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role, preferably in the energy sector.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D; knowledge of structural analysis tools.

Responsibilities

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Design Lead to oversee and guide civil engineering design activities for various energy infrastructure projects. This role involves leading a team of civil designers, ensuring technical excellence, project delivery within scope and budget, and adherence to all relevant standards and regulations.

How You'll Make An Impact

• Lead and manage a team of civil design engineers and CAD technicians, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
• Oversee the conceptual design, detailed design, and engineering calculations for civil works related to substations, power plants, transmission lines, and other energy infrastructure projects.
• Develop and review civil engineering drawings, specifications, reports, and other project documentation.
• Ensure all designs comply with national and international codes, standards (e.g., IS, ACI, ASCE), and company policies.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including electrical, mechanical, structural, and environmental engineers.
• Participate in project planning, scheduling, cost estimation, and resource allocation.
• Conduct technical reviews and quality control checks of design deliverables.
• Identify and mitigate potential design risks and challenges.
• Present design solutions and project updates to internal and external stakeholders.

Your Background

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution. Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in civil engineering design, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role, preferably within the energy sector.
• Proven expertise in the design of foundations, earthworks, drainage systems, roads, and other civil infrastructure for industrial or power projects.
• Strong understanding of relevant engineering software, including AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, and structural analysis tools (e.g., STAAD.Pro, SAP2000).
• Thorough knowledge of Indian and international civil engineering codes and standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
