Responsibilities
  • Collaboration with Director: Working closely with the director to understand their artistic vision and translate it into visual storytelling
  • Shot Composition: Planning and setting up shots to create visually appealing and meaningful scenes that enhance the narrative
  • Camera Selection and Setup: Choosing the appropriate cameras and lenses for each shot and setting up the camera equipment for optimal image quality
  • Lighting Design: Designing and executing lighting setups to create the desired mood and atmosphere for each scene
  • Camera Movement: Deciding on camera movements, such as pans, tilts, dollies, and steadicam shots, to add dynamism and emotional impact to the visuals
  • Framing and Blocking: Working with actors and the director to block the movements and positions of characters within the frame for each shot
  • Lens Choice: Selecting lenses that achieve the desired depth of field, perspective, and visual effects
  • Color Grading: Collaborating with the post-production team to ensure the intended color and visual tone are achieved during the editing process
  • Camera Crew Management: Leading and directing camera operators, camera assistants, and other crew members to execute the cinematographic vision
  • Location Scouting: Visiting and assessing shooting locations to determine the best angles and setups for filming
