Job summary

SYSTRA India, a leading engineering and consulting group in rail and urban mobility, is bidding for Metro Rail projects across India. The Chief Track Expert is the key position in these bids, overseeing track design review and installation supervision.

You will ensure quality, provide expert guidance to project teams and contractors, coordinate with design, signaling, electrical and civil disciplines, supervise inspection and testing, and help define maintenance strategies for safe metro

Qualifications

• Graduate in Civil Engineering
• 25+ years of experience in railways or railway related industry
• 5+ years’ experience in urban rail based passenger carrying system

Responsibilities

• Review track design and approve alignment drawings and technical specifications.
• Oversee installation of track systems including ballast, sleepers, rails, fastenings, and switches & crossings.
• Monitor track construction activities to guarantee adherence to quality standards and contractual obligations.
• Provide expert technical advice on track-related matters to project teams and contractors.
• Supervise and participate in inspection and testing of track components and completed trackwork.
• Establish maintenance requirements and strategies for track assets to support safe metro operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues during track installation and maintenance.
• Liaise with design, construction, signaling, electrical, and civil disciplines for coordinated execution.
• Ensure compliance with railway regulations, safety norms, and quality management systems.
• Prepare and review technical reports and progress updates for project leadership.

Currently, we are bidding for Metro Rail projects across India. The position of Chief Track Expert is the key position in these BIDs.

Missions/Main Duties

• Track Design Review: Review and approve track alignment, layout drawings, and technical specifications ensuring compliance with relevant standards and project requirements.
• Installation Supervision: Oversee the installation of track systems, including ballast, sleepers, rails, fastenings, and switches & crossings, ensuring quality and accuracy.
• Quality Assurance: Monitor track construction activities to guarantee adherence to quality standards, best industry practices, and contractual obligations.
• Technical Guidance: Provide expert technical advice on track-related matters to project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Inspection & Testing: Supervise and participate in inspection and testing of track components and completed trackwork, including geometry checking and acceptance.
• Maintenance Strategy: Establish maintenance requirements and strategies for track assets, supporting safe and reliable metro operations.
• Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues encountered during track installation and maintenance.
• Coordination: Liaise with design teams, construction teams, signaling, electrical, and civil disciplines for coordinated project execution.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant railway regulations, safety norms, and quality management systems.
• Reporting: Prepare and review technical reports, progress updates, and documentation for project leadership and authorities.
• Continuous Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements in track design, installation methodologies, and maintenance practices.
