Job summary

Ultramarine & Pigments is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support sample preparation, chemical analysis, and QC in a busy lab environment. You will operate instruments, maintain safety protocols, and document test results with precision.

The role involves following SOPs, handling chemicals safely, and contributing to accurate reporting of analytical data for in-process and finished materials.

Qualifications

• Perform sample preparation and labelling with accuracy.
• Conduct routine chemical tests under supervision.
• Maintain SOPs and ensure quality standards are met.

Responsibilities

• Collect and prepare raw material samples and finished products.
• Perform titration, pH, moisture, and other tests as directed.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and keep records.
• Assist QC by testing materials and reporting out-of-spec results.
• Maintain logs, worksheets, and test reports with attention to detail.
• Follow safety rules and use PPE while handling chemicals.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

1. Sample Preparation

• Collect and prepare raw material, in-process, and finished product samples.
• Perform sample weighing, dilution, filtration, and solution preparation.
• Ensure proper sample identification and labelling.

2. Chemical Analysis

• Perform routine chemical tests under the supervision of senior chemists.
• Learn and perform titration, pH, moisture, and other analytical tests.
• Assist with qualitative and quantitative analysis.

3. Laboratory Equipment Handling

• Operate laboratory instruments such as pH meters, weighing balances, UV spectrophotometers, and other analytical equipment.
• Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
• Keep equipment clean and in good working condition.

4. Quality Control (QC)

• Assist in testing raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality standards.
• Report out-of-specification (OOS) results to senior chemists.

5. Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain laboratory records and analytical test reports.
• Record observations and test results accurately.
• Maintain logbooks, worksheets, and laboratory registers.

6. Laboratory Safety

• Follow laboratory safety rules and chemical handling procedures.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Handle, store, and dispose of chemicals safely.
