Job summary

Safearth Clean Technologies in Ranchi invites a competent candidate to lead our Chemical Lab operations, focusing on testing and development for natural flake graphite products.

You will oversee sample collection, testing, SOP development, and reporting, ensuring calibration, safety, and compliance with NABL/ISO 17025 standards. Leading a small team and coordinating with production, R&D, and external labs is expected.

Qualifications

• B.Tech / B.E. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 3-7 years in industrial testing laboratory, preferably in minerals, graphite, carbon products, or chemical manufacturing.
• Hands-on expertise with laboratory instruments and analytical techniques for mineral analysis.
• Knowledge of NABL / ISO 17025 is highly desirable.
• Understanding of graphite product specifications and quality benchmarks is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all laboratory operations including sample collection, preparation, testing, and reporting for natural flake graphite products.
• Perform and supervise tests for fixed carbon, ash content, volatile matter, moisture, particle size distribution, bulk density, pH, and other relevant parameters.
• Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and upkeep of all laboratory instruments and equipment (XRF, LOI furnaces, sieves, moisture analysers).
• Develop and standardise SOPs for all test methods and lab processes.
• Maintain accurate lab records, test logs, and databases; generate timely reports for production and quality teams.
• Ensure the laboratory complies with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and NABL/ISO 17025.
• Manage laboratory inventory including chemicals, reagents, glassware, and consumables; coordinate procurement as needed.
• Train, mentor, and supervise lab technicians and assistants to maintain competency and consistency in testing.
• Support R&D trials by conducting specialised tests and providing analytical data for new product development and process optimisation.
• Liaise with external laboratories for third-party testing and inter-laboratory comparison studies when required.

• Strong hands-on expertise with laboratory instruments and analytical techniques relevant to mineral analysis.
• Knowledge of laboratory accreditation frameworks (NABL / ISO 17025) is highly desirable.
• Understanding of graphite product specifications and industry quality benchmarks is a strong advantage.
