Job description

Cerner is hiring for the role of Technical Support Engineer II. As a Technical Support Engineer II, you will be responsible to proactively monitor system and application alarms. You will also investigate, analyze, resolve, or escalate alarms and service requests. You will manage work queue in accordance with service level agreements and assist with balancing work volume across the team. You will also establish and model best practices for documenting investigation and issue resolution. You will identify appropriate escalation paths to triage issues to second-level resources for resolution. You will also investigate and diagnose complex or high-impact performance issues on client domains and lead problem management processes to identify recurring alarms. You will Identify and implement process improvements. You will also Increase team performance by creating and maintaining work instructions, reviewing quality of work, and providing technical coaching and mentoring to the team. You will implement software patches and upgrades. You will also work with Cerner suppliers in the maintenance and performance of assigned applications, hardware, and systems.

Working Environment

Hybrid & Onsite: No Relocation Assistance Offered

This position offers a Hybrid & Onsite working environment. Meaning you will split working time between a Cerner office or client site and remote. If your current geographical location requires relocating, Cerner will not offer relocation assistance to the specified location. #LI-Hybrid

Qualifications

Basic qualification:

At least 6 years total combined related work experience and completed higher education.

At least 1 year customer service, call center, hospitality and/or technical support work experience.

At least 5years additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job and/or completed higher education.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/ Information Systems/Computer Engineering/Software Engineering.

Preferred Qualification:

Training, experience, or certifications for multiple operating systems including Linux, Windows, VMS, HPUX or AIX.

Experience with monitoring solutions like Insight, Remedy and BMC Patrol.

Basic understanding of computing concepts, such as system/performance bottlenecks, physical and virtual memory, remote computing solutions (Citrix) and networking (OSI layers).
