Job summary

Varroc is seeking a senior procurement leader to drive the Manufacturing category strategy, annual planning and supplier management in Pune. You will develop cost-saving initiatives, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely capacity planning aligned with business needs.

The role requires deep automotive purchasing experience, ERP proficiency, and the ability to lead a cross-functional team across functions. Relocation assistance to Pune is provided for suitable candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering is mandatory.
• MBA/PG in SCM is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead category annual planning with BU teams and define capacity and cost targets.
• Formulate procurement, negotiation and capacity planning strategies.
• Manage supplier relationships, contracts and data for ongoing governance.
• Meet monthly with key suppliers for capacity scheduling and investment planning.

Job description

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible to formulate and drive a consistent approach towards all sourcing, purchasing and tendering activity within the Manufacturing category ensuring value add through cost savings. Oversee timely and cost-effective development of components as per desired standards. Inculcate the culture of developing Long Term Suppliers to help cater to Varroc's commercial interests

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Category annual planning

Proactively participate in the annual business planning meetings of the concerned BU to understand plans and derive material requirements

Determine capacity basis the derived material need; devise a strategy to ensure timely and cost-effective fulfillment of the capacity requirement

Work with the Global CSCO (Chief Supply Chain Officer) to finalize cost savings targets for the category aligned with business requirements

Develop the category annual plan basis capacity and cost targets ensuring its timely implementation by working closely with Category Managers

Design appropriate reporting and monitoring mechanisms that clearly highlight cost savings achieved by category

2. Strategy formulation and process development

Formulate the category procurement, negotiation and capacity planning strategies to provide cost effective and timely service to concerned businesses; ensure alignment of the formulated strategy with that of other categories

Develop/modify the procurement and capacity planning processes basis experience, observations from periodic reviews and work with the concerned stakeholders to drive their implementation. Monitor compliance to set processes through regular reviews on supplier selection, budget adherence, documentation completion, timely updates on SAP, capacity scheduling etc.

Formulate the costing strategy for projects and proactively work with the BD and BU teams to negotiate contractual arrangements with suppliers to ensure that value for money and excellent service levels is maintained

3. Supplier Management

Build and maintain critical supplier relationships by ensuring that all concerns raised by the supplier are addressed promptly and more opportunities are created for the supplier to expand its business with Varroc

Develop a suitable contract database and protocol for ongoing supplier management including the ongoing creation, rationalization and management of suppliers along with a clear contractor overview highlighting key contracted information

Meet with key suppliers every month for capacity scheduling aligned with formulated capacity planning strategies; influence to accept plans/scenarios

Discuss required investment commitments from the supplier and support (if any) to be offered by Varroc

Work closely to manage spikes or reduction in production basis changing customer requirements

Monitor and track progress of suppliers performance in line with KPIs, contractual obligations and service level agreements

Resolve conflicts and disputes between user teams and supplier in a timely manner to prevent any lag in delivery of materials

4. Team development

Participate in recruitment process to identify the right talent across positions within the function

Establish individual performance expectations and regularly review individual performance of the team

Identify and create development opportunities for team members to enhance functional knowledge

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION

Minimum Qualification required: Bachelors degree in Engineering

Qualifications preferred: MBA / PG in SCM

WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum 15-20 years of strong experience in Automotive Purchasing / Procurement Category / Commodity Management

Strong Knowledge of Automotive Industry & understanding of Automotive Components and is manufacturing processes

Exposure Automotive Industry supplier/vendor base in terms of Volume of components, number of suppliers/vendors managed & total spend/buying value responsible for

Knowledge of procurement analysis tools

Hands-on with SCM ERP systems and Zero Based Costing

REPORTING

The Position reports to the Global CSCO (Chief Supply Chain Officer) and has a Team Category Managers & Leads reporting to it
