A leading global reinsurer is offering an internship in Nat Cat Modelling based in Mumbai. The intern will assist in projects focused on catastrophe modelling and data analysis, support initiatives regarding Nat Cat perils, and contribute to treaty reinsurance renewals using vendor models. Ideal candidates should possess a tertiary education in a numerate field and have strong analytical and communication skills. Experience in SQL, VBA, GIS, or R programming is advantageous.

Job description

Duration: 6 months or longer, minimum 4 days per week

Internship Description

Assist APAC Cat team initiatives and R&D projects focusing on key APAC natural catastrophe perils. As part of SCOR Global P&C Pricing and Modelling team there will be the opportunity to contribute to reinsurance renewals and business process.

This internship in Nat Cat Modelling will give you the opportunity to be involved in various internal projects with a strong focus on data analysis, as well as usage of vendor models.

Responsibilities

Key duties and responsibilities

Support project work related to Nat Cat perils research, data collection, model evaluation, climate change study, product development, and / or tool automation.

Assist client service and Nat Cat research network initiative for APAC.

Opportunity to be part of treaty reinsurance renewal using vendor Cat models and SCOR proprietary pricing tool for key APAC markets including India.

Potential exposure to modelling and monitoring of Cat portfolio and accumulation control for key UW units

Qualifications

Required education

Tertiary education in a highly numerate structured disciplines, such as Earth Sciences, Engineering, and Maths/Statistics.

• Clear communicator, able to structure an argument and explain complex issues in a simple way.

SQL, VBA, GIS, or R programming skills are a distinct advantage.
