Job summary

Oakridge International School-Mohali is seeking a School Career Counsellor to guide students in subject choices, career paths, and higher education planning. You will assess interests, advocate university options, and assist with applications, essays, and interviews, while maintaining confidential records and coordinating with staff.

The role involves parent sessions, college visits, and ongoing market updates to support student development within the Indian and international context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Counselling, Education or related field.
• Certification in Career Counselling preferred.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a school.
• Experience in university counselling/admissions desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group career counselling to students.
• Conduct career and aptitude assessments to understand interests and strengths.
• Guide students on subject selection and academic pathways.
• Provide guidance on universities, courses, scholarships, and admissions in India and overseas.
• Support university applications, essays, personal statements, interviews, and processes.
• Maintain individual career plans and counselling records.
• Organise career fairs, university visits, talks, workshops and information sessions.
• Coordinate with universities and external career guidance organisations.
• Conduct parent counselling sessions and inform on higher education opportunities.
• Collaborate with teachers, coordinators and school leadership to support development.
• Stay updated on admission trends, entrance exams, scholarships, and opportunities.
• Maintain confidentiality and safeguarding policies.

Position - Career Counsellor

Job Purpose

To guide and support students in making informed decisions about their academic subjects, career choices, and higher education pathways based on their interests, strengths, abilities, and aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group career counselling to students.
• Conduct career and aptitude assessments to understand students' interests, strengths, and career preferences.
• Guide students on subject selection, academic pathways, and future career options.
• Provide guidance on universities, colleges, courses, scholarships, and admission requirements in India and overseas.
• Support students with university applications, essays, personal statements, interviews, and admission processes.
• Maintain individual career plans and counselling records for students.
• Organise career fairs, university visits, career talks, workshops, and information sessions.
• Coordinate with universities and external career guidance organisations.
• Conduct parent counselling sessions and keep parents informed about higher education opportunities and pathways.
• Work closely with teachers, coordinators, school leadership, and pastoral teams to support student development.
• Stay updated on university admission trends, entrance examinations, scholarships, and emerging career opportunities.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow all school safeguarding and student wellbeing policies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's/Master's Degree Counselling, Education, Career Counselling, or a related field.
• Certification in Career Counselling is preferred.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a school or international school.
• Experience in university counselling/admissions is highly desirable.
