Qualifications

  • Fluency in Hindi and proficiency in computer skills for data management and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counselling sessions to students to assess interests, strengths and goals.
  • Plan and facilitate group workshops on career exploration, study skills, goal setting, and decision-making.
  • Develop and implement career development programs with guest speakers and internships.
  • Engage parents and community members to support girls education and career development.
  • Maintain records on educational institutions, scholarships, and employment opportunities.
  • Collect data and report on counselling effectiveness; monitor student progress and outcomes.
  • Build partnerships with government agencies and NGOs to leverage resources.
  • Capacitly-build Life Skills Mentors to deliver sessions on career guidance.

THF works with communities through direct implementation of projects on the ground in addition to providing local management and monitoring support to not-for-profit organizations in India funded through THF USA and RIST.

Annual Salary (before TDS): 35,000 - 40,000/- CTC Per Month Max

Position Overview

The role involves providing individual and group counselling sessions, organizing workshops, and collaborating with Life Skill Education Mentors and community members to support girls in making informed decisions about their education and future careers. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of girls in rural areas by helping them navigate their educational and career pathways. This role requires 80% of the time to be spent in the field like schools and CBLs. This position will closely work with the Life Skills Mentors, PC and PM and will report to the PM.

Key Responsibilities
A. Individual Counselling

Provide personalized counselling sessions to students to assess their interests, strengths, aptitude, Knowledge and goals by using standard tools.

Offer guidance on educational pathways, career options, and skill development tailored to each students needs and aspirations.

B. Group Workshops

Plan and facilitate workshops on topics such as career exploration, study skills, goal setting, self-awareness, and decision-making.

Create engaging activities and resources to promote active participation and learning among students.

Meeting with parent groups to make them understand their girl s interests, knowledge, aptitude etc and encourage them to help their daughters in selecting the right choices/streams.

C. Career Development Programs

Develop and implement programs to enhance girls awareness of various career opportunities and the skills required for success in different fields.

Collaborate with local entrepreneurs, professionals, and organizations to arrange guest speakers, job shadowing opportunities, and internships.

D. Parents and Community Engagement

Work closely with parents, government teachers, and community members to build support networks for girls education and career development.

Organize parent meetings, community events, and outreach activities to raise awareness about the importance of girls education and encourage community involvement in supporting girls aspirations.

E. Resource Management

Maintain the records/information with up-to-date information on educational institutions, scholarships, vocational training programs, and employment opportunities.

Provide access to relevant materials, online resources, and career assessment tools to help students make informed decisions about their future paths.

F. Data Collection and Reporting

Collect data and feedback to assess the effectiveness of counselling interventions and programs. Monitor students progress, track outcomes, and identify areas for improvement.

Update the data in the Dashboard

Monthly/quarterly report submission in the desired format.

Use data-driven insights to continuously refine and enhance the quality of services provided.

G. Networking and Collaboration

Build partnerships with government agencies, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and other stakeholders to leverage resources and opportunities for girls education and empowerment in consultation with the PM.

H. Capacity Building of Life Skills Mentors

Trained the Life Skills Mentors to take the generic sessions on Career Guidance with the girls

Qualifications

Bachelors or Masters degree in counselling, psychology, education, or a related field.

Prior experience in counselling, mentoring, or teaching, preferably in a school or community setting.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds and establish trusting relationships.

Knowledge of career development theories, assessment tools, and educational resources.

Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities facing girls in rural areas, including cultural and socioeconomic factors affecting their educational and career choices.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.

Fluency in local languages/Hindi and proficiency in computer skills for data management and report writing.
