Job summary

Babcock Power APAC Pvt. Ltd. in India seeks an early-to-mid-career mechanical engineer for CAD drafting and HRSG-related design.

The role emphasizes checking drawings, BOMs, and 3D models while coordinating with global teams during IST overlap with our US engineering. Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent technical qualification).
• 2–5 years of experience in CAD drafting/design, preferably in boilers, HRSG, or related thermal power equipment.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across geographies.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn design standards and engineering practices.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt, take initiative, and grow in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete and thorough checking of HRSG non-pressure assemblies, pressure parts, structural component assemblies and detail drawings of equipment.
• Checking to include validity of design, compatibility with adjacent components, drawing procedures, drawing standards and mathematical accuracy.
• Assist with preparing or updating major component sub-assembly, sections and detail drawings, calculations, bill of materials and 3D models for HRSG and associated equipment.
• Supervise the development of drawings, serve as a consultant to shops, sub-contractors and field personnel for projects.
• Review project customer specifications
• Prepare major assembly, section and detail drawings and itemized bill of materials
• Coordinate with Project Design Lead on the project to which they are assigned
• Communicate and assist other departments with calculations and datasheets
• Develop and maintain 3D model of piping and equipment
• Generate weight calculations for parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies
• Participate in internal and customer 3D model walk-throughs
• Revise drawings
• Provide thorough checking of drawings and bill of materials
• Create project as-built drawings if required
• Assist in development of General Arrangements and Setting drawings
• Assist with review of vendor generated drawings
• Maintain knowledge of current designs, standards, and procedures
• Assist and instruct drafters in the use of standard and acceptable drafting techniques
• Follow internal standards, project contracts and specifications, and applicable codes and standards
• Assist with preparation and maintenance of internal design standards
• Provide support to the Project Engineer, Project Design Lead, and Product Engineer for shop and field issues
• Serve as consultant for shop and field questions
• Travel to jobsite(s) or vendor shops as required

This role requires flexibility to work later in the day (IST) to ensure effective overlap with our US-based engineering team.
