Associate Editor, Medicine (Telecommute)

Core responsibilities:

We are hiring editors for our Medicine team. As an editor at CACTUS, you will:

• Perform deadline-driven quality assurance checks on manuscripts edited by freelancers to review if:

1. Poorly worded sentences have been edited for better readability and clarity
2. Client instructions and subject-specific conventions are followed

• Handle manuscripts on topics ranging from biochemistry to immunology, cognitive neuroscience, internal medicine, and radiology
• Interact with talented freelance editors from around the world and proactively provide feedback on their editing assignments
• Understand client and industry requirements and adapt working approach accordingly

Essential skills and expertise:

• A Bachelors/Masters/PhD/MBBS in medicine and related subjects
• Excellent written English skills and attention to detail

A little about telecommuting:

Telecommuting is a work arrangement in which you do not commute to a central place of work. You can work outside the office, often working from home. You may visit the office at regular intervals to attend meetings and touch base with your team.

Work conditions:

• Training: All applicants will have to undergo a 1 – 2 month training from our Mumbai office and travel to our office once a quarter or bi-annually for important events.
• Work hours: An 8-hour work day, not including breaks for lunch etc.
• Leave: Leave entitlement will be as outlined in the CACTUS leave policy.
• Attendance in office: Attendance in office will be expected at regular intervals defined by your supervisor or department leader.
• Insurance: All Cactizens are covered for Mediclaim (Health Insurance) and Accident Insurance from Oriental Insurance Company Ltd. The Mediclaim cover is INR 100,000 and Accident cover is INR 500,000.
• Telephone Expenses: CACTUS will reimburse job-related telephone expenses incurred for work hours.
• Internet Expenses: CACTUS will reimburse job-related internet expenses incurred for work hours.
• Hardware & Software: CACTUS will provide a laptop with the necessary software configured and updated on that system.
