Job summary

Hitachi ABB Power Grids in Chennai invites an Associate Project Engineer to join our HVDC power transmission team. You will contribute to hardware design for control and protection systems, support installation and commissioning worldwide, and uphold safety and integrity in all tasks.

You will work with a diverse team, prepare design documentation, review specifications, and help optimize engineering processes to deliver high-quality solutions on time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• CRP panel design experience for AC/DC substations (2+ years).
• Knowledge of basic panel design for T&D control & protection.
• Experience in complete cycle: design, testing, installation, commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Implement hardware control and protection solutions for HVDC plants.
• Prepare design specifications, diagrams, and BoM for panels and cubicles.
• Lead design reviews to detect issues and implement improvements.

Job description

As an Associate project engineer, you will join an aspiring team that works with the HVDC Power transmission links. It is a diverse and independent job, within our project groups, with lots of responsibility and you will have great opportunities to develop your skills within HVDC. Our department is responsible for the C&P hardware design of HVDC system. This includes design, documentation, testing, supervising the installation and commissioning of the control and protection systems. Supporting and supervising on-site installation and commissioning around the world is an important part of our business offering.

How you'll make an impact:

• Implementation of Control and Protection- Hardware solutions for High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) plants within a team of engineers.
• Preparation of Design Specifications, Overview Diagrams and Concept Clarifications in close cooperation with the concept coordinators, preparation of manufacturer documentation (GA, Scheme drawings, BoM) for control and protection panels / cubicles and junction / marshalling boxes, preparation of Cable Schedule & Termination details.
• Participating in or leading design review meetings to detect design errors, process and tool inefficiencies, and putting in place corrective and improvement actions.
• Support project execution & deliver project tasks according to the time plan and with right quality. Understand the contract scope and ensure awareness on the customer requirements.
• Taking Initiative in engineering Process optimizations, standardization etc.
• Closely interacting with project team and support the team for smooth execution of project.
• Interaction with multiple departments for the co-ordination and smooth execution of project.
• Providing necessary support during Functional Performance tests and Site Commissioning.
• You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

• You hold a bachelor's degree.Have CRP panel design for AC/DC substations with a minimum work experience of 2+ years.
• Technology knowledge of basic panel design with control & protection function for T&D required.
• Experience in complete cycle of a T&D substation control & protection design, Factory acceptance testing, Installation & commissioning, experience in technical tender support or bidding are preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of E-Base, Visio, Adonis and other similar process modelling and mapping tools. Good knowledge of process structuring & process management.
• Engineering Base tool knowledge, experience in substation environment and protection application are preferred.
• Experience in HVDC projects, experience with site work execution in the relevant area will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge & Experience MS Office: Word, Excel.
• Self-starter caliber who could own tasks through to completion, strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
