Job summary

HSBC Bangalore is seeking an experienced Business Manager Support - Performance and Operations to manage cost planning, forecasting and cost-to-serve analysis. The role requires advanced analytics, cross-functional collaboration across Retail, Finance, and Operations, and a strong control mindset.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' experience in cost management and financial analysis in a financial institution or consulting firm.
• Proven problem solving skills and navigation within complex networks.
• Sharp business and commercial acumen with ability to influence strategic decisions.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint required; knowledge of Tableau, Power BI & Python is a major plus.
• Knowledge of Table Manager 1 and Anaplan; able to prepare automated dashboards/reports for cost analysis.
• Strong strategic thinking and analytical problem-solving abilities; capable of presenting to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Create, submit and track cost plans; ensure accurate forecasts against plan throughout the financial year.
• Own the recharge framework and ensure alignment with policy and month-end timetable.
• Drive transparency of service consumption and cost-to-serve; link manufacturing activity to cost.
• Identify and deliver efficiency opportunities within cost pools; track benefits to reduce recharge.
• Maintain controls, documentation and audit readiness, including version control and evidence retention.
• Coordinate with Finance to secure Invested Assets data; perform reasonableness checks against prior periods.
• Improve transparency on indirect costs and intercompany recharges; support cost-efficiency projects.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role ofBusiness Manager Support- Performance and Operations

In this role, you will:

• Responsibility for working with teams across Retail, Finance, Operations, and Wealth & Personal Banking to create, submit and track against cost plans as part of the process and ensure accurate forecasts against plan are maintained on an ongoing basis throughout the financial year.
• Own the framework for recharges to and Retail, ensuring the model reflects the agreed charging principle (allocation based on Invested Assets) and aligns to Finance policy and the month-end timetable.
• Drive transparency of Wealth Premier Solution service consumption and cost-to-serve, helping Retail understand the linkage between manufacturing activity
• Identify and deliver efficiency opportunities within cost pools (or allocation approach) to reduce the cost-to-serve, and track benefits through to reduced recharge outcomes.
• Ensure strong controls, documentation and audit readiness, including version control, evidence retention, maker-checker, and periodic validation that the remains fit-for-purpose.
• Maintain and control inputs and assumptions, including definition, cut-off dates, Retail segmentation rules, treatment of new propositions, campaigns, or one-off costs, any floors/caps, smoothing, or true-up logic.
• Partner with finance to secure accurate Invested Assets data (timely, complete, reconcilable), and perform reasonableness checks vs prior periods and known business movements
• Improve transparency, understanding and oversight on Indirect Cost. Key focus on Global Functions, and Intercompany Recharges. Support on Cost efficiency projects good sense of judgment along with strong planning, organization, project, time management skills

To be successful you will:

• Minimum 10+ years' experience in cost management, financial analysis, trend analysis and quantitative analysis in a strategy consulting firm or leading global/regional financial institution.
• Proven track record on problem solving skills and navigation within complex networks.
• Sharp business and commercial acumen, management of financials, ability to make and influence strategic decision.
• Advanced excel and PowerPoint skills are a must. Knowledge of Tableau, Power Business Intelligence & Python a major benefit
• Knowledge in Table Manager 1 and Anaplan is a must. Ability to prepare automated dashboards / reports for cost analysis
• Effective strategic thinking and problem-solving ability (critical analytical thinking)
• Ability to deliver senior management-ready, high-quality materials to present financial information to senior stakeholders.
