Job summary

Standard Chartered in Mumbai seeks a Business Manager for Markets to support the Markets Heads in executing India strategy, ensuring governance and risk controls, and coordinating with global teams.

Role includes supervising dealing room activities where applicable, driving risk identification and mitigation, auditing support, budgeting, and driving process improvements with key stakeholders such as GBS.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Markets Business, Operations and regulatory landscape.
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and collaborate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Be the connector between global and local practices and export best practices.
  • Support Markets Country Head in running risk forums and governance.

  • Identify, assess and mitigate operational risks in-country.
  • Assist in in-country audits and governance submissions.
  • Drive process simplification and efficiency improvements.
  • Monitor local regulatory changes and assess impact on processes.
  • Provide budgeting, forecasting and cost-management support.
  • Collaborate with GBS and ensure timely, accurate submissions.

Job description

The Business Manager for Markets business will support the Markets Business Heads and Markets Country Business Manager in executing India strategy, implementing business initiatives, helping ensure adherence to regulations and policies and provide risk & governance related support

Key Responsibilities
  • Be the "connector" between global and local and export best practices.
  • Support the Markets Country Head in running of the Business Risk Forums (BRFs);
  • Operate effective supervision of Markets, Treasury Markets and Wealth Management Product Sales (WMPS) staff in the dealing room, where applicable
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks in-country.
  • Support the Markets Country Head in supervising and coordinating in-country audits.
  • Continuously seek out process simplification and re-engineering opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
  • Keep up to date with local regulations to assess impact / business opportunities and manage any changes to business processes and infrastructure.
  • Provide business support on dealing room management, e.g., capacity planning, business continuity, access controls, Service Level Agreements, licensing, etc.
  • Business budgeting and forecasting where required.
  • Driving and management of a prudent cost culture.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders including GBS and ensure submissions are made on a timely basis
  • Ensure that the submissions are accurate, complete, reconciled (where relevant) and specific to the requirements
  • Execute controls, monitor, report and evolve operational risks where appropriate in-country
  • Ensure dealing room staff adhere to internal and external processes and procedures, and governance practices set out by the Governance Committees
