Job summary

Workatbackbase is seeking a seasoned Backbase consultant to guide clients through the omni-channel digital banking transformation. You will lead requirements gathering, ensure BSD sign-off, and align UX with Solution Architecture within the project scope.

You will manage the end-to-end backlog in Jira, craft user stories and epics, and drive innovations with AI to accelerate documentation while maintaining high standards of quality and delivery.

Job description

You are accountable within a project to drive the specifications to conclusions. You are accountable for getting a sign off on the Business Specification Document (BSD). With your input the Engineering manager will start delivering a working system for the customer. You closely work together with the Engineering Manager.

You lead complex engagements. You are the customer's trusted advisor in creating clarity on the full requirements set for the program. This also is towards the backbase team. You act as an experienced Backbase consultant to clients.

Based on the defined strategy from the bank and the goal of the program, your job is to proactively support the customer on creating and implementing their omni-channel digital banking transformation vision and strategy.

You clearly communicate progress, risks, blockers, and dependencies with the core team. You are an experienced consultant who analyzes, captures, and prioritizes customer requirements, identifies product improvements, and defines best practices.

As a person you are organised, have oversight, know how to finish a job without loose ends and are used to working in a fixed date environment.
You manage the process of feature requests and maints with R&D.

Result driven:

• Leads the business requirements gathering and completing the specs. He/she owns this full for the project.
• Accountability for the end-to-end quality of functional and technical specifications, including the alignment of UX and Solution Architecture within the signed-off BSD.
• Accountable for thorough and accurate project backlog management in Jira, including scope definition and backlog quality.
• Accountable for creating and signing off on BSD plus managing the CR process that comes out of this. Accountable for writing and organizing user stories and epics, feature requests, and MAINTS (product bug reports).
• Coaching / instructing formatting to others, and ensuring a signed-off Business Specification Document (BSD)/Project Config Sheet.
• Uses AI in a meaningful way to speed up the process. Knows for example how to translate AI generated notes and recordings into specs.
• Capable of giving a Demo on the Backbase Product.

Communication skills:

• Manages customer expectations, works closely with customers, and leads engaging workshops.

Product knowledge:

• Provides guidance to clients on the best usage of the product as well as customization. Works with Backbase R&D colleagues where customization is necessary to explore out-of-the-box options or recommend enhancements.

• Is able to create BSD’s independently.

Industry knowledge & Business Value:

• Defines essential requirements for customers to achieve their objectives and realize their customer experience vision within the financial industry context.
• Quantifies the value for the customer between solving something in adopt vs build. And takes into account items that may speed up requirements gathering and or development.

• Translates customer vision into a sound project backlog and explores out-of-the-box options versus recommended enhancements.
• Strategically applies AI tools across complex business analysis initiatives in order to improve documentation and solution quality, while continuously adapting approaches in a dynamic and fast-changing environment.
• Understanding the Agentic SDLC and how the flows improve month after month.

Creativity

• Identifies product improvements and defines best practices.

Leadership skills:

• Guides the team, acts as the customer’s proxy product owner, and provides some amount of mentoring to Junior Business Analysts.

• Experience: 3-7 years in a similar role.
• Backbase/Banking Experience: 1+ year in Backbase; 3-4 years in Banking or Financial services.
• Domain Knowledge: Seen by their peers as an expert with deep knowledge and understanding of at least one Backbase Line of Business (LOB)
• Methodology: Expert in creating Business Specification Documents (BSD), Epics, User stories and BE tasks. Knowledge of Backbase way of working (delivery hub) and fluent working with our Agentic SDLC.
• Tooling: Expert in Jira, Gemini (or similar LLM), Google sheets / slides and workshopping tools like Miro. Has AI as a default way of working.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher; IIBA CCB certification.
• Language: Professional working proficiency in English and local language.
