Job summary

CDM Smith in Bengaluru seeks a skilled Civil 3D Modeler to design and draft plan/profile drawings for pipelines, road alignments, and grading. You will establish project design standards, produce construction drawings, and integrate Civil 3D with BIM tools.

Strong communication and a proactive attitude are essential for client meetings and cross-office collaboration. The role requires a BE/ME in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a Civil 3D Certification and 5+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• ME or BE in Civil/Environmental Engineering (preferred).
• Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D Certified Professional.
• Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Independent worker with high self-motivation; overseas project experience is a plus.
• Passing of an Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D Certified Professional exam in the last 3 years is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare/update plan/profile drawings for pipeline, road alignment, and grading using corridor modeling.
• Establish standards/guidelines for project deliverables as per client requirements.
• Produce construction drawings and integrate Civil 3D output with BIM tools (Revit, Plant 3D).
• Apply safety and quality practices in design work and coordinate with project leads.
• Attend client coordination meetings and present project status updates.
• Travel to other offices in India or abroad as needed.

Job Description

The Civil 3D Modeler is expected to perform variety of design/drafting activities including preparing/updating plan/profile drawings for pipeline, road alignment, grading using corridor modelling, pressure/gravity pipe network and ground terrain modelling. Also, Civil 3d Modeler, should establish guidelines and procedures for standards to be used on project following to Client requirement.

Job Description

Should be proficient using AutoCAD Civil 3D in following areas;

• Terrain modeling and surface water management projects and studies
• Understanding of Storm Water Design and Hydrology
• Knowledge of Data Shortcuts
• Pressure and Gravity Pipe Network Design
• Grading design using Corridor modeling
• Production of drawings for construction purpose
• Integrating Civil 3D output with another BIM softwares like Revit and Plant 3D
• Proficiency also includes a strong understanding of Civil 3D Annotation styles and annotation tools, object and label styles, solid understanding of key objects such as Surfaces, Alignments, Profiles, Profile Views, Surface Analyses and Volume Calculations, and a basic understanding of Feature Lines.
• Implement innovative approach to reduce drawing production cost and hours.
• Efficient use/plugins for integrating other applications (HEC-RAS, Storm CAD, Water/Sewer GEMS etc.) to generate drawings based on specific project requirement.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Attending client coordination and review meetings, preparing and presenting project status updates and supporting Project Lead/Team Lead in engineering-related tasks.
• Implement Safety and Quality aspects into design.
• Travel to abroad/other offices in India for project and assignments etc.

Skills & Abilities

Good communication skills with strict attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to be a team player and contributor to the overall team. Possesses strong working knowledge of core Intelligent Modeling/CADD applications. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office for design related tasks primarily within the Intelligent Modeling/CADD environment.

Additional Pay Range Information

CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate’s salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
