Job summary

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of Build Engineering/DevOps experience in similar roles.

• Scripting in Unix/Linux shell and Windows Batch; Python and/or Java, Groovy, Ant.
• Hands-on Jenkins CI/CD pipelines, build monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with GitHub and Gerrit for source code management and reviews.
• Knowledge of XML and YAML build/config files; SDLC understanding.

About the role:

The role is based in the Pune R&D Centre, at SAS R&D Pune facility.For this role, you will join the SAS9 team. We are looking for a Build Engineer to support and maintain build environments, CI/CD pipelines, and build automation processes. You will be responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting build issues, supporting build infrastructure, maintaining automation scripts, and collaborating with development and other engineering teams to ensure smooth and reliable build operations.

Experience: 2-4 Years

Primary Responsibilities

• Your primary responsibility will be performing daily monitoring and verification of SAS product build processes.

• Monitor, support and maintain Jenkins CI/CD pipelines to ensure successful and timely build execution and delivery.
• Troubleshoot build failures and analyse logs to identify the root cause of issues, also perform remediation activities for build and environment-related issues.
• Develop and enhance automation scripts to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency.
• Create, maintain, and update build configuration files as per the requirement.
• Create and track issues using Jira or other issue-tracking tools and follow up with relevant teams until resolution.
• Maintain build-related documentation, troubleshooting guides, and standard operating procedures.

Requirement

• 2–4 years of experience in Build Engineering, Build Support, DevOps Support, Release Engineering, or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of OOPs concepts.
• Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux and Windows Server environments.
• Good scripting knowledge in Unix/Linux shell scripting and Windows Batch scripting.
• Hands-on experience with Python and/or Java, Groovy, Ant.
• Hands-on experience with Jenkins and CI/CD pipeline support.
• Good understanding of CI/CD concepts, build automation, and software build processes.
• Experience working with GitHub for source code management and build integration.
• Working knowledge of Gerrit and code review workflows.
• Experience working with build and configuration files such as XML and YAML.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze build, application, and system logs.
• Ability to identify build failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement appropriate remediation steps.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and source code management practices.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Good communication, documentation, and knowledge-sharing skills.
• Proactive mindset with the ability to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with the Unix/Linux and Windows Server command-line interfaces.
• Hands-on experience with Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines, including build monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Python and/or Java, Groovy, Ant, Shell scripting and PowerShell scripting for build automation and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
• Experience working with configuration and build files, including XML and YAML.
• Hands-on experience with GitHub and Gerrit, including source code management and code review workflows.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability toanalyse build and system logs and identify root causes of failures.
