Job description

The Blood Bank Technician will be responsible for blood sample processing, blood grouping, crossmatching, component handling, storage monitoring, donor and recipient documentation, and blood issue coordination. This requires diploma qualification, 1–2 years of experience, transfusion safety knowledge, infection control awareness, and accuracy in records. The candidate will support safe, timely, and compliant blood bank services in Ahmedabad.

• Receive and verify blood samples, requisition forms, patient details, and component requirements.
• Perform blood grouping, Rh typing, antibody screening, and compatibility testing.
• Support crossmatching, blood component preparation, storage, and issue procedures.
• Maintain donor, recipient, crossmatch, inventory, issue, and discard records accurately.
• Monitor blood storage temperature, cold chain, expiry dates, and component availability.
• Coordinate with doctors, nurses, ICU, OT, emergency, laboratory, and blood bank teams.
• Follow transfusion safety, infection control, biosafety, PPE, and biomedical waste protocols.
• Report incompatibility, critical requirements, stock shortage, or transfusion‑related concerns promptly.
• Maintain equipment logs, QC records, calibration records, and reagent documentation.
• Ensure proper labeling, traceability, and safe handling of blood units and samples.
• Assist in emergency blood requests and urgent issue coordination.
• Support audits, quality checks, and regulatory documentation requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness, discipline, and safe working conditions in the blood bank.
• Follow confidentiality and data integrity standards for patient and donor information.
• Ensure safe, accurate, and timely blood bank service delivery.
