About Us: Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre is now a private, full‑filled multi‑specialty hospital with 350 beds, of which 75 are ICU beds. It is also one of the biggest research centres in India, conducting regular research and clinical trials in various fields, often in collaboration with other institutions in India & abroad.

Location: Mumbai (Peddar Road)

What You'll Do:

  • Assist the Manager Bio‑Medical in ensuring that the patient care instruments used throughout the Hospital are safe.
  • Effectively manage and coordinate activities of the Biomedical Engineering Department to include the evaluation, replacement, service and repair of complex biomedical patient equipment; administer policies and procedures applicable to efficient operations.
  • Provide necessary support, both operational and safety, to the Doctors / Nursing Staff /Technicians in terms of equipment usage.
  • Manage all aspects of maintenance and repair of the equipment, as well as ongoing training and education for both Technical and non‑technical staff related to safe trade medical practices.
  • Coordinate scheduled preventive maintenance of medical equipment with vendors and also in‑house Engineers, through adjustment or replacement of items on a timely basis to prevent equipment failures.
  • Coordinate scheduled for and accuracy of results.
  • Provide on‑the‑job training and support to the equipment users and Technicians.
  • Establish and define departmental goals and objectives to fellow Engineers to meet goals and objectives of the Hospital.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate programs to meet departmental goals.
  • Establish departmental policies and procedures that are consistent with Hospital Policies and Procedures and which promote organized operation of the function.
  • Maintain standard code of practice consistent throughout the hospital and ensure that the accreditation standards of NABH, JCI and other accrediting agencies are met.
  • Monitor and facilitate intra‑ and inter‑departmental activities.
  • Monitor effectiveness of departmental programs and incorporate new technology, procedures and program ideas to maintain state‑of‑the‑art practice.
  • Develop new program proposals as needed/requested including budgetary as well as operational components.
  • Ensure provision of 24 hour, seven day, and on‑call to support Hospital Biomedical Engineering needs.
  • Keeping up to date knowledge of the evaluation of new technology for patient care, the development of specifications for medical equipment acquisition, the design of test procedures for medical devices and the design of custom devices as needed.
