Job summary

UST seeks a Senior Unix Patch Engineer to lead enterprise patching, compliance and remediation across RHEL and AIX environments. The role requires hands-on IBM BigFix administration, patching during planned maintenance, and ensuring high system availability and security.

The successful candidate will coordinate with infrastructure, security and operations teams, participate in weekend maintenance, and drive automation initiatives to improve patch deployment efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end Unix OS patching using BigFix and enterprise patch management processes.
• Perform Unix patching across RHEL and AIX server environments per requirements.
• Configure, administer, and maintain IBM BigFix components (Fixlets, baselines, actions, content, reporting).
• Integrate Unix endpoints into BigFix, ensure agent health, reporting and compliance status.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end Unix operating system patching activities using BigFix implementation practices and enterprise patch management processes.
• Perform Unix patching across RHEL and AIX server environments in accordance with organizational patching and remediation requirements.
• Configure, administer, and maintain IBM BigFix components, including Fixlets, baselines, actions, content, and reporting.
• Integrate Unix endpoints into the BigFix infrastructure and ensure accurate agent health, reporting, and compliance status.
• Monitor patch deployments, troubleshoot failures, and implement corrective actions to improve patch compliance.
• Coordinate patching activities with infrastructure, operations, application, and security teams to minimize business impact.
• Perform root cause analysis for patch deployment issues and implement preventive improvements.
• Generate patching, compliance, and vulnerability reports for operational and management stakeholders.
• Maintain patching documentation, standard operating procedures, and operational runbooks.
• Support automation initiatives that improve patch deployment efficiency and operational effectiveness.
• Participate in planned maintenance windows, including weekend and after-hours patching activities.
