Job summary

DEIC-L&T Precision Engineering & Systems IC, located in Bengaluru, seeks a seasoned Mechanical Design Engineer to lead architecture and enclosure design for solar inverters, EV chargers, and power cabinets. You will develop layouts, ensure IP protection, and coordinate with electrical teams to meet EMI and safety standards.

The role emphasizes thermal and structural analysis, DFM/ DFA, and hands-on prototyping support, with a focus on manufacturability and ease of serviceability.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical/Marine Engineering is required.
• 6–9 years of relevant experience.
• Proficient in CAD and mechanical enclosure design.
• Familiar with IP protection and environmental robustness.

Responsibilities

• Design product and system-level mechanical architecture for solar inverters, PCS & BESS containers, EV chargers, and power cabinets.
• Develop enclosures, cabinets, skids, and container layouts with proper clearances and safety.
• Perform thermal management design including forced air and liquid cooling; run CFD simulations and validate.
• Conduct structural analysis for static/dynamic loads, wind, seismic, and safety compliance.
• Coordinate with electrical/control teams on component placement, cabling, EMI shielding and segregation.
• Drive DFM, DFA, cost reduction and production ramp-up; support prototype builds and NPIs.
• Prepare and maintain 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and installation/service manuals.

Key Responsibilities1. Mechanical Architecture & Enclosure DesignDesign product and system-level mechanical architecture for:Solar inverters (string & central)PCS & BESS containersEV chargers (AC/DC)Electrolysers & power supply cabinetsDevelop enclosures, cabinets, skids, and container layouts.Ensure IP protection, corrosion resistance, and environmental robustness.2. Thermal & Cooling DesignDesign thermal management solutions:Forced air coolingLiquid cooling (cold plates, heat exchangers)Perform thermal simulations (CFD) and support validation.Optimize airflow paths, heat sink design, and component placement.3. Structural & Mechanical AnalysisPerform structural analysis for:Static & dynamic loadsTransportation & seismic conditionsEnsure compliance with wind, seismic, and shock/vibration requirements.Design for safe lifting, handling, and installation.4.
