Overview

The position is with Logistic Company and they are looking for Business Development Manager & DGM/GM - Freight Forwarding / Air and Ocean

Location - Chennai

Purpose

This position is responsible to monitor & perform sales activities for the branch through team as well as own contribution.

Accountabilities
  • Business development
  • Achieve the budget allocated.
  • Know all the customers in allocated territory or product assigned to the person
  • Prioritize the customers you have to focus immediately and after 3 months.
  • Understand the business potential of the customer and also estimate the business that we can get.
  • Is responsible for qualified presentation of the entire range of standardized products, establishment and presentation of customized offers, their negotiation and contract.
  • Proactively planning and involving regional heads /product managers in the successful maintenance of the account.
  • Is responsible for the coordination of all sales activity in a branch.
  • Responsible for developing the sales strategy of the branch based on and regional priorities.
  • Leads and directs sales executives / asst. managers / deputy managers BDMs towards achievement of top line.
  • Is responsible for the morale, training and development of all sales staff of the region.
  • Regular interaction with all the customers directly.
  • With all top customers, a review system internally and externally on the business, put in place to ensure the customer focus is never compromised.
  • Keen eye for market intelligence on the respective territory/ product and sharing information with management.
  • A sign-off from the respective Product Head of the region is a must for all the internal processes before handling the shipments.
  • SOP and credit application in place before starting business from a customer.
  • Ensure monthly or any other reports are sent on agreed timeline to the corporate office.
  • Monthly review of the business handled figures as per KPIs and Target
  • Monthly review of the business against target for each customer.
  • Needs to have an overall view of developments in terms of competition, customers, trade lane activity in the area under him.
  • Understand the business potential of the area under him.
  • Break down the branch target into territory targets and Monitoring performance against target.
  • Initiate corrective steps in case of negative deviation vs. targets set.
  • Drive the process of developing business with new customers in the branch.
  • Proactively planning and involving regional teams product teams for service delivery, new business development and maintenance of existing customers.
  • Be responsible for smooth transition of new customers to the product team from the sales team for the former to maintain / grow the customer.
  • Ensure commercials & SOPs are in order for all customers
  • Monthly review of the budget against achievement.
  • Quarterly review of the budget against business and specific action for any shortfall.
  • Maintain / update / review pipeline.
  • Ensure all required reports are sent on agreed timeline to the regional office.
  • Responsible for assisting in signups of all major prospects of the branch
  • Regular interaction with all the top prospects/customers directly or through the sales team in the Branch.
  • Close monitoring of the out standings of top credit customers with the Credit control team
