Introduction

Responsible for driving all technical aspects of delivery, setting and improving technical direction and standards for development and design across the platforms that support our products and services for Barclays UK customers. This role will report directly to the Global Head of Digital, Everyday Money Management (EMM) and is responsible for designing and building Digital platforms for EMM.

What will you be doing

1. Develop, implement, optimize, and maintain cloud-based solutions.
2. Work with Designers and other stakeholders, and the CTO (Chief Technology Office) and CSO (Chief Security Office) to develop and deliver API for Customer Onboarding Domain.
3. Implement and maintain focus towards ensuring API components adhere to the application and data architecture vision.
4. Lead operation activities by following DevSecOps model, educating teams on the implementation of new cloud technologies and initiatives.

What we’re looking for:

1. Must have a Computer Science Degree with hands-on experience in building cloud native solutions.
2. Strong technical working experience in software engineering and design roles.
3. Significant software development experience, with multiple programming languages.
4. Designing, developing and deploying modular cloud-based systems.
5. Ensuring efficient functioning of data storage and processing functions in accordance with company security policies and best practices in cloud security.
6. Identifying, analysing, and resolving infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues.
7. Regularly reviewing existing systems and making recommendations for improvements.
8. Interacting with internal and external teams, providing cloud support, and making recommendations based on business need.
9. Strong experience of Agile and DevOps principles, tools and practices.
10. Experience with automation and cloud technologies.
11. Strong analytical skills and proven ability to simplify and clearly communicate complex analytical outcomes to both technical and non-technical audiences.
12. Strong experience of a wide range of application development technologies including APIs, microservices, containerisation, elastic, scalable and distributed architecture.

Skills that will help you in the role:

1. Degree in computer science or a similar field.
2. At least 3 years of experience in the field of cloud computing.
3. Experience with CI/CD systems.
4. Troubleshooting and analytical skills.
5. Good communication and collaboration skills.
6. Client management skills.
7. Azure, AWS, and GCP certifications preferred.
8. Experience with SysOps.
9. Experience in the Financial Industry.
